Wow Hessle Roader 76 and still going, super effort, these young whipper snappers, don’t know what’s coming to them ALL.
I wouldn’t mind but I did pay for all the tickets, as good dads and grandads will, it was just some clubs discount at 60, and others 65.

It was the same with the disabled fans. Some clubs gave concessions, some didn't and some gave the carer concessions only. Now with the DDA coming in a few years ago, just about every club's (not sure on Championship clubs) policy is the disabled person pays full price and the carer goes free. This usually goes for most other venues too. The clubs should have a universal policy on concessions, that way everyone knows where they are.

Indeed, plenty of retired over 60's with spare cash too!

Where did I say over 60's??? The old age pension is paid, as of now to men over 65 and women at between 60 & 65 as its gradually changing. I assume you mean over 60's for when the pension age for all women was 60? And if he can't work out why pensioners on a fixed income of £125.95 a week shouldn't get a concession then I'm not explaining it to him.

Is it because clubs value their seniors, and rewarding them for all the heartbreak they have endured
Or perhaps the gold watch syndrome for services rendered, or is it simply good business, a purely fiscal thing, as they say age is just a number, but like it not “come on you Ull” you have to wait till your 60 for the black & white discount, or if you support a certain other club in Hull, you must wear your ball and chain a further five years.

No, I was asking you why over 60s (especially the ones who have yet to retire) should be able to get into games for less money than other adults?
You called him 'clueless' for not agreeing with the policy.

I didn't say 60, I said OAP's. And he is clueless if he doesn't realise how low the Old Age Pension is.

Bumpy doesn't think that over 60s should get a discount (I agree with him). You said he was 'clueless'.
Do you think people over 60 still in work (or for that matter those who have taken early retirement) should get a discount?

I think Old Age Pensioners should get a concession. I suggest you read my previous posts which I've explained what age group are OAP's.

| Concessions are age related, not income related which is where the issue of whether an individual deserves it or not is completely irrelevant. The standard pensioner earns very little, which is why the overall concession discounts are very helpful and gratefully received. However, as throughout working age life, there are always going to be pensioners that have savings/private pensions/investments etc that will mean that along with their probably mortgage free households, are actually very comfortable in retirement. There is absolutely no way that general concessions can be means tested, companies simply don't have the resources for that, therefore like it or not, OAP concessions are here to stay. I do agree with an above mentioned point though, in that they shouldn't be available until they are at state pension age.

I'm not sure many people refer to that age group as 'old age pensioners' anymore but I'm perfectly aware of the state retirement age, thanks. I don't see why everyone should get a discount at a certain age. Or bus passes for that matter.
You obviously won't answer my question about over 60s still in work getting a concession so I guess we'll just leave it there.

Karen's point is valid, it can't be means tested, but shouldf be in line with state pension age.
I know a lot of pensioners on way more than the fixed pension.

I already answered it, its not my fault if you didn't read it, but for your benefit I'll say it again.....they state pension is £125.95 a week. Most OAP's have no other means of earning any other income, ie thats why they call it having a fixed income. I suppose you'll be having a pop at the disabled next who are in an almost identical situation

It's been 60 for as long as I can remember, when most men would still have been working and most women retired.

all you did was generalise about fixed incomes.
Amyway, it's 60, wether you or I agree with it isn't going to change anything.

I think that's the problem too, it's 60 in some circumstances and 65 in others. It needs a blanket change agreeing and the state age of receiving pension payments seems the easiest and fairest.

I said that a few posts back too. Since the DDA came in most clubs have a universal policy of disabled person pays full price, carer free. It never used to be though and got confusing around the different clubs.
