| Strange one; better second half but not where we need to be in attack and missed the physicality of Ellis, Green and Bowden for me, although Turgut showed up very well. Errors the main concern, I'm not sure that whether due to cold conditions or new combinations. Shuffled the pack a lot in the backs with Connor, Naughton, Michaels all coming on; not sure he knows his first choice 17 now.
On the positive side the starting front row looked good as did Shaul. Some class plays from Sneyd too, short GLD which we got possession from. Glimpses of quality but no real cohesion. Maybe in January that's not that unusual.

Careful PC, we've met before. Anyway, I can confirm that Salford's refreshments fall short of the KCOM standards, just typical stadium catering fare. Tea was PG tips I think as opposed Yorkshire tea at the KCOM. MASSIVE thumbs down from me therefore.

Not ideal but not worried
Salford 3rd game in a row with a full strength team so they'll be well tuned up
Our first really and still missing a big chunk of pack in green Bowden n Ellis
To say how many errors and pens we gifted to concede only a couple more scores is defo 1 positive
So defence is ok. So next week I'd go strong and blitz em and run through our play book to get the attack jump started

Who said that, you expect me to go to a friendly away Salford when we have just had a baby?
I wonder who you are?
Talk about the game and stop being a d&@k.

| just dont understand this one preseason game plan for the first team squad.
I would now have all the first team playing at least the first half at Doncaster.
I agree that Radford doesnt actually know his first choice 17 and seems to be trying to find a place for Connor.
What i see is when Kelly is on the field all our attack is on the right side with Talanoa and Griffin seeing very little of the ball. That needs to change otherwise the strength of these two is wasted.

Quite a few sides, play the '6' on the left side, and then the '1', chimes in on the right
side, to provide the extra pivot...
A bit disappointing, that we haven't changed our pivot structure from last season...

| Poor result with nearly a full team playing even if it is just a friendly considering a long pre season, over seas training camp and lots of other friendlies. Could we be going from overdone last year to underdone this year come season start?

Time will tell.
We've all been fans long enough to know that you can't take too much from a friendly. Until it's 17 vs 17, restricted interchanges and something at stake, you really can't use it as much of a marker. Roll on the Wakey game.

What you could see though from the match is that Salford have played 3 friendly games with a near full strength team and it showed.
Losing a friendly is not really a concern but losing at Wakefield because we are underdone playing as a team would be.

Well near but not quite full strength as we were missing Ben Murdoch Masilla Josh Jones and Todd Carney, good win but I'd swap it for the two points against Wigan in a fortnight.

Thought you looked well organised and did us for pace several times, good to see both sides getting some big hits in. A cliche but no easy games in Super League.

| Another way of looking at it is given the stupid way the season is set up with us playing wakey and then a fortnight off again there's effectively a month of pre season left with 1 game in the middle
Radders may gamble on the team being able to do a job slightly 'underdone' put some more work into them then before the true week in week out grind begins

I thought that a while ago, not that we'd gamble being underdone but just that it might be factored into pre season.

Agree there'll be no easy games. Widnes still look light of a half back, but other than that it's going to be really tough for any team from the championship that have an eye on promotion via the million pound game

| IMO Salford looked well drilled and professional, certainly in defence. We made far too many errors, that tuimivave kick near the sticks defied all reason! Thought 18.6 flattered us. But it was only a friendly, but we need to improve on that for sure.

| Radfud in Mail blaming lack of competitive mindset in some players
That concerns me
Are we still in a Challenge Cup hangover ?
Serious question
Remember there will have been a hell of a lot of talk prior to this game in the dressing room
And on the practice pitch from the coach and players
We are aiming to start the season with a bang so by the Reds game yesterday we should have been near red hot
Let's see how the season starts but we need a 2 win start in my opinion

There are a lot of good points on this thread and of course we will all give the team under the circumstances of a friendly the benefit of the doubt. But last season we hit Rovers pre season in a manner few Clubs have, we were red hot and carried that into the game against Salford at the KCOM and pretty much through the season before we tailed off in a manner that was perhaps attributed to us peaking too early so its a fine balance.
We all know that skill and effort from Hull FC sides in the past is one thing, but in the end any success we have had has also been down to a good attitude and the team fighting for each other. so some fans can be certainly be excused for being a bit concerned when they consider that display and indeed take note of Radford's words afterwards and the fact that all the talk in camp has been about the way we are improving attacking wise.
I hope that a pre season that has so far as far as I'm concerned appeared to be a bit of a shambles is a master stroke and I don't get it or understand the validity of all these games spread over such a long period, but as I say some will be starting to get a bit concerned that in our last game before the season starts the coach is questioning some players application.

| Yep but with the exception of the Widnes game there were no issues at all with our attitude and passion from to the Rovers Friendly onwards which appears to be Radford's major concern at present.

| Don't think we looked underdone, we looked the fitter side second half until another brain fart from a high kick, led directly to their clinching try.
The skill set was the difference, they moved the ball far better than us and sliced us open a few times in the first half. I don't remember a clean break by us in 80 minutes!
Negatives - We can't deal with high kicks, 3 times 2nd half we either let the ball bounce or lost it in the mid air duel. Talanoa didnt even get off the ground for the 1st one.
Right hand side attack is all at sea. Carlos looks lost there, fonua will never just come inside and take a tackle. how mnay times again did he go into touch or lose the ball. Big questions for Radders there, I'd stick with michaels on the wing and leave fonua at centre. but he has the option of connor too. Carlos - I don't know what he is.
Positives - Masonga was great, looks the real deal. Hugely impressed with him and think he'll oust one of Bowden or Green if they don't really step up consistently.
Sneyd looked really sharp, was running the ball more and put in a couple of beautiful little kicks, especially the drop out to get the ball back. Trouble was, he seemed one step ahead of most of his team mates!
Thought Washy made a big difference 2nd half.

| I hope I'm wrong but I think Pritchard leaving could come back to haunt us - from a culture P.O.V if nothing else. He was obviously a huge character in the dressing room and team chemistry/morale is a fragile thing.
Let's see, hopefully it's all an overreaction and we come out of the blocks firing against Wakefield. We'll only know for sure in October.
