Will people stop bleating on about the salary cap. Whilst Miller is a player (playing or not) he is a part of the salary cap. He is amongst the top 25 earners so he will currently count on the cap no matter if he plays or not.

I think if Miller doesn't play next week, there must be something sinister afoot. I didn't think he was as bad as some are making out last season. He was definitely inconsistent and prone to a few errors, but he showed some nice touches as well. Certainly enough of them to be worth three or four games this year to see how he goes.

It is possible that Radford has been trying to work with Miller on improving some deficiencies before throwing him into the lion's den so to speak. If Miller hasn't been particularly impressive in training that wouldn't necessarily be anything other than good coaching by offering some time to the player. This approach is hampered somewhat by not being able to play him in an A team (scandalous IMO) or on dual reg. Maybe this is why Miller has seemed reasonably happy despite not playing - maybe he has seen some merit in that approach and decided to work with it ?

The salary cap is live. If he leaves tomorrow his cap will have counted from day 1 of the season until now. If he leaves the next highest earner outside the 25 takes the next spot.

I think you're wrong there mate. According to my checkings just now we won four matches with a HB combi of Azza and Horney but six with a combination of Holdsworth and Miller.

Obviously, before the season starts, nobody has played but there is a "live" salary cap registered with the RFL.
I'm sure it's the final cap at the end of the season that actually counts, and only players who have played a competitive match are included.
The live cap is to avoid/catch problems early so they can be dealt with straight away (rather than in previous years when it was after the season had ended.)

So while it may seem stupid to exceed the live cap, it's fine as long as it's ok at the end of the season.

I'm not convinced that's right. I recall that when the live cap was introduced, it was suggested that signings would not be ratified and registered unless they fit into a club's live cap space. I could be wrong, but I don't think it's as you say.
