What a utterly boring game,

Yeah passing,tackling,kicking and supporting the man with the ball is so boring i really prefer to see teams knocking on,missing tackles,kicking out on the full and not supporting breaks.

They are very good at plan A and are robotic,the way to beat them is off the cuff as they can't adapt...just too robotic for me and had bugger all to beat.

Pathetic performance from NZ and not good enough!

Shame, big crowd, good slot on a Saturday afternoon and the Kiwi's go and bottle it, the hakka was about as imtimidating as watching a bunch of college kids who'd had too much shandy trying to impress some blonde bimbo's who are sucking on straws.

They will get roasted in NZ for that performance and rightfully so.

What surprised me was how quickly the Australians released the man they had just tackled.

None of this laying on for as long as they can get away with it.

Even in a 3 or 4 man tackle, they didn't prevent each other from getting away from the ruck, something that seems to an integral part of the game over here.

Never thought it would have been that one sided but hats off to Australia, maybe England took to much out of the NZ team last week, the aussies just never seem to panic & stick to the game plan with the players all doing there jobs in both attack & defence an 80 minute display of how to play RL. Well done world champions.

You only have to listen to the skill and professionalism of Cameron Smith in his post match speech , in front of at least 50,000 people by then , without a script , having just played the best game in the world at the very highest level , to understand why these guys are so far ahead of everyone else. The chances are that most of the rest of that team would have had a similarly professional stab at it as well if asked. Certainly they are big , fit and supremely skilled athletes but most of them seem to be blessed with an intellectual capacity that is just in a different league and clearly makes them a dream to coach.

Totally agree. I have made the point before on here that I feel it is an issue with all English sport.

I was there yesterday and although disappointed it wasn't closer and NZ didn't win, you have to congratulate Australia for such a complete team performance. I do think England would have run them closer, just because it would have been a home final for them.

Good point. Seems to be something that has started to develop in the Australian game this season from the little I have seen. If you think about the reason, could it be that the stats show that taking part in the wrestle and laying on is a false economy. The energy expended doesn't compare to leaving the tackle quickly and getting defensively set. Australia's defensive record this tournament would suggest it works.

Maybe a shift in how the game is played is taking place, would any SL teams be able to adopt it.

Don't forget as well,they have 2 refs,one taking them back and the other watching the tackle and play the ball.They will release him early to avoid the penalty and this is now 2nd nature to them also we play under "International" laws and the advantage rule doesn't apply.we now have to adept again and look at the 2ref system or it will be 1982 all over again.

Good points, even more so since the banning of things like the chicken wing tackle.

It is moving on and we have to move with it...1st thing is to get a bloody sponsor for SL if Wood can't achieve this on the back of a hugely successful World Cup then something is wrong and 2nd...bring in the 2ref system..if we haven't enough refs then promote a touch judge just to police the ruck and let the ref take them back or have the Tj taking them back.
