| I don't for the life of me see why people would not want to help showcase the game we all love. If all three games are not attended well the RFL will ave being right to not have the big games here.

after the last world cup flop in 2005 lessons should've been learned, play the games where the rl fans are, not where most cant get to due to cost or work

We have three games and people are on about not attending them. Why should the RFL give us more games ?
Why do RL supporters look for negatives all the time, at £15 for two games they is no reason why CP can't be sold out.

Although not at me I currently have tickets to Cardiff, Wembley and old trafford. Work pending I will also be looking to attend all 3 Hull WC matches and the England QF.

2000 WC, have a look at the fixtures & compare before making statements like that. They cocked-up big time, I agree. 6 games in France, games in Watford, Gloucester, Reading etc. There are a lot more games in RL heartlands this time around than 2000, way more.
This time there's been an actual bidding process too, there wasn't one in 2000. Everywhere that has a game this time round wants it and has backing from that town/city. Read up on Bristol's bid, it's pretty impressive.
Incidentally, only 3,000 turned up at the Boulevard to see Australia play in 2000. Even the heartlands were badly attended that year.

Indeed, the only games that can be considered truly outside of the heartlands this time is USA-Cook Islands at Bristol and Australia-Ireland in Limerick, and I doubt either game would have got a big crowd in the heartlands anyway.

I'm not going to all the games in Hull, just the England vs Fiji game. I live in Leeds, so I've tickets for the two games at Headingley, England Ireland at Huddersfield, Italy Tonga at the Shay. Going to the final too and hopefully the double-header at Wembley (not got tickets yet).
I'm not trying to present myself as 'Mr RL Fan' & do you down. I'm just well up for it, you're not, fair enough people are different. There just seems to be a lot of unwarranted negativity about it.

Yeh, they're pretty much the only two. Bristol put together an impressive consortium (see here: www.bristol.gov.uk/page/leisure- ... ch-bristol) and with a decent amateur game, the All Golds close by and I think Leeds Rhinos have an academy down there too.
Thomond Park in Limerick is a cracking venue.Limerick wanted it: www.limerick.ie/living/whatsnew/ ... erick.html
Even the games in Wales & France have been pinpointed in RL heartlands (relative to their countries).

| I don't understand why any RL fans wouldn't be excited about PNG vs France, it should be a cracking game. I expect a lot of people on here will complain or be apathetic as usual and then realize what's actually happening once the tournament starts.
The idea that Hull have somehow been 'shafted' despite being given three strong games is ridiculous BTW, if anyone has been shafted it's South Yorkshire who don't have a single game despite two pro clubs in the region.

You can't really argue about the semi's being held at Wembley, surely?
As I said a couple of pages ago, Hull could've got a quarter final instead of the Fiji game, maybe. I can see why those venues have been chosen for the likely match-ups though.
I think you're being a little picky really. You've got three decent games on your doorstep, I don't think it matters that much that one isn't a QF. The opening games aside, England Fiji is probably the biggest group game going, that's why it's at Hull.

| When the rfl promise the city a quarter final then goes back on it, shafted is quite appropiate, they probably gave us a 3rd group game as small conselation

There is no 'rivalry'. I'm starting to struggle to take this conversation seriously now.

And not everyone can afford to go to Hull.
The RFL obviously thinks that the big England games can attract more than the KC holds. And I totally agree. Don't you think it's a bit unreasonable to expect games that can attract over 40k to be held at a 25k stadium?
Quote ="number 6"its about time the hul public were rewarded with decent games, not just England v nz/Fiji, when was the last time we played the aussies at the kc? we don't even get the exiles as the rfl bigwigs cant get off their fat ar5es to travel over!'"
Hang on. You can't complain that we get cr*p internationals at the KC and then complain that we don't!
The attitude of many RL fans is what hold back the game. We want the game to be big, then complain that the big games aren't in our back yard even though our back yard isn't big enough.

There will be a number of NRL players in the England squad playing against teammates who play for Fiji.
The SL players in the Ireland squad will mainly be England rejects. Hardly rivalry.
You're just looking for reasons to complain. Fiji were the fourth strongest nation in the last RLWC. They have another very strong squad. I can't wait for the World Cup.

| I can see both sides to this argument and don't agree with either, I agree the RFL should look to venues bigger then the kc for the bigger England games but have been to ambitious in thinking they can sell out wembley and old Trafford, even if it is a double header and final. The stadiums will be empty on national tv again and embarrassing for the sport again. The RFL should of looked to stadia that has capacity of around 40,000 for the bigger games, even then I doubt they would sell out as these size stadiums are hard to come by along the m62 corridor.

All three will get more than 40k. If England get to the final, it will sell out. If not, even the poorly attended RLWC2000 got 44k.
The opening ceremony usually gets a big crowd.
I've no idea how Wembley will go, but I'm hearing good things about sales. It's the only game(s) in London so should be well supported.
The World Cup would be already perceived as an utter failure if they played these games in 25k stadia. It's just self interest of RL fans that is making them complain. But if it's not in their back yard...

| I can't believe what I'm reading here. Hull has more group games than any other city in the UK including one of only 3 guaranteed home nations matches and because you want 'big' games on your doorstep you are NOT going to attend!?
Tell me, if we expect more than 25,000 at England vs Australia and the 2 Semi-Finals, then why on earth would the KC Stadium come into the reckoning for these matches? Should we just have a Hull world cup in 2021 so you can feel special and looked after (not that with 3 games including England you haven't already been)?
The France-PNG game will have more too it than the vast majority of Super League games this year. Something very meaningful to play for including players you only have the opportunity to see once and you're going to sit at home, arms folded sulking in a bid to make the RFL give you big games (which as we've established are too big for the KC's capacity). Grow up, get behind your sport and get to some games. The only way to make a statement about getting big games in the future is by selling out the games you have got, which are crackers in my eyes compared to everyone else.
We have one chance this year to show people that we still care about RL in this country but if we all have your attitude I suggest we pack it in all together.
