| Given the sounds that Gentle has been making about needing another 6-7 players next year, and he has been saying this from about 2 months ago. I am quite surprised that performances have held up at Hull. He maybe performing with average players this year, but telling them they are average and that they have no future next year at Hull is different to thinking it in private. It's surely a risk for team unity.

It's Pearson that's been doing all the talking with regards the quality of the squad not Gentle.

| Quote ="Mrs Barista"Agree with most of that although I can't see us winning a play-off game. Of the first choice back line at the start of the season, ie McKinnon, Sharp, Martin, Yeaman and Briscoe, only one played last night, and out of position. Whilst that's absolutely no excuse for the performance, which was diabolical, the point is that, these absentees, coupled with the losses of Moa and Tickle, IMO mean that we simply won't have the experience or quality available to deal with the intensity of a play-off game. If it ends up being against Huddersfield, for example, they've got far, far more recent play-off experience and as Leeds showed last year, that counts for a lot.
As you say, looking at next year, the rumoured half back signings would be a huge step on from anything we've had for years. I think Houghton and Heremaia both look very good, rumours of bringing in a full back too. A starting pack of Lynch, Houghton, new prop, Ellis, Tickle, Westerman would be strong. Concerns would be depth of squad, but we do have Bowden, Green, Crooks and Lineham breaking through this year and their development will be greatly improved by the experience they've had.
Looking forward to hearing what Gentle has to work with next year. Hopefully we'll get our half back targets and kick on from there. If you'll pardon the pun.'"
I have seen performances this season which suggest we are good enough to win a play-off game, I think with a bit of soul searching and pride we can achieve that, normally after a performance like last nights we tend to see some changes and bounce back, mind when we were running into these last 3 games I actually thought Bradford would be the tricky one so we will have to see what happens there. Gentle has proven to me so far he has an eye for a decent player so I am excited about next years signings, I am under no illusions that they will no all be world beaters however the crux is he will hopefully bin the players who are not good enough and sign players that are consistently better and who know how to play with pride week in week out.

| If we finish 6th then the best performance we have in us (as per Leeds at home) will definitely be good enough to win a play off game at home. Not sure about away where we've been poor. Obviously we have a performance in us as per last night and should that raise its head again we wouldn't beat a National League 2 team.

| I don’t think it is just a matter of are we or are we not good enough for some success in the play offs. I think the biggest problem we have is some of the players we are having to play, just cannot be ar$ed.
I think that is what prompted Person to say that we what players who want to play for us.

On that showing any local amateur side would have taken them to the cleaners.Worst display I have had the misfortune to witness.

| Before this season began I thought the majority of fans agreed this season was to be a transitional season. AP trying to steady the ship, previous regimes signings, which are gone or going. I'll agree there has been some woeful performances but imo also a few glimpses of quality. Injuries (again) this year has been unbelievable (so players playing out of position.) yet we still sit in the play off positions. Improvements to the youth setup and young lads finally getting a chance. And still people moan. No wonder we get called fickle.

| people need to remember where we have come from, yes Saturday was a disappointment, but we all know we are carrying some players that know they are moving on, maybe some that have uncertain futures as well.
IF we finish 6th most people would have taken that at the start of the season, they'd certainly have taken it at the end of last, we'll play Huddersfield, who haven't exactly covered themselves in glory this season, they have a departed coach and departing captain, if we get the right players in the Black and White on the day then we can beat anyone.

| My biggest worry is this : ' Is this the best Gentle can get out of a side ? '
Any great coach can have 1 poor performance but to have so many poor/average is worrying for me as a great coach can work miracles usually and over a season has very few 'crap' team performances against his name regardless of who's moving on etc

your first sentence is the main one! it should read 'is this the best Gentle can get out of THIS side?'
gentle has said before some players are not mentally tough and it will be those that will be shown the door

| Quote ="Mrs Barista"Good to see you back, Babness, been a while. Perhaps understandably since your detailed critique of both sides' first half of the season fixtures and how Rovers greater proportion of home games in the second half would inevitably even things up and see Rovers finish above FC. That went well.
Jam tomorrow, fair call, we've had it for years. But it could be worse. We could be further down the table. We could have a board talking of making significant cuts, of making backward steps. We could have our premium academy breakthrough player having a dialogue breakdown with the chairman as he can't see the potential at the club. A question. =#0000FFHull will likely finish 7th this year, Rovers 8th. Where do you think each will finish next season, and why?'"
I still think us 6th, Rovers 9th at best, which was what I predicted before the season started. I still think that overall we've had a good season with all factors considered.

| You see under Agar it wasn't the players to blame it was the Coach stupid ! , but now with plenty of new players in the side , it's not Gentle's fault. Are we saying that Turner/Manu/O'Meley are completely over running PG mgt ability ? I hope not, because every season you have players you fall out with

| Looking at it in perspective apart from some stumbling performances and some shocking ones, Gentle has still improved on previous seasons and we have qualified for the play offs with games to go (not just scraped in them), beaten Rovers x 2 should have been 3, beaten Leeds for first time in years. All this with a team that was signed by the previous regime and clearly not good enough. We have had players who have come in mid season and players leave mid season, a catalogue of injuries with little or no cover (due to inadequacies from years poor team management/recruitment previously). plus we have seen more academy players in the 17 this season than in the last 5/6 years.
It has been a momumental transistional period from pre season and during the current season but yet we are still in the play off places. It has become clear some players either are not too bothered as they are moving or just can't hack it.
So even with all the issues we have still improved on what we have done in the last few seasons. I am sure Gentle can take this club forward and will not stand for performances like Saturday night.

Spot on IMO. Yes, we've had some performances that were lower than we would have expected, but the opposite is also true. It's the nature of a disrupted and transitional side to be inconsistent, we just have to hope that improvements we have made are the things that stick long term and regularly.

| Saturday was bad, really bad but I expect a massive performance against Bradford.
I thought I'd watch it again just to see if it really was as bad as I remembered but the only way I could stomach it was to run the Benny Hill sound track over it with a couple of BONG'S, CRASH, BANG, WHOLLOP'S and the odd cycle horn.
My final verdict:Best forgotten.
