Yeamon has been our bet player this season IMO. Sharp has done nothing great and cost us tries. I don't dislike him, but it is a fact nonetheless

| After that second half clanger, I said to my wife, remember when Motu Tony got the starting full back role and he kept making errors in the first few games, and he got the ironic cheers when he did collect the ball from a kick, you just wait when Sharp does the same. Glad to know the morons in the stadium didn't let me down.
What these idiots should know that any sportsman in any sport can suffer from lack of confidence after making mistakes. Do people think that anyone does these things on purpose? To anybody with an IQ lower than their shoe size, here's a little tip. Giving it the ironic cheers isn't going to help, ok?
You can see the lad is keen for work, and gives it plenty of effort with ball in hand, so give the guy a break.

Quite agree. One moron behind me booed him as he went off. Individual players should never be booed or jeered, IMO.
A couple of clanglers last night from Will but he will learn and become a better player because of them.

I was just being devils advocate and using Yeaman as an example. Although everyone can have their own opinion, mine is that Houghton, Fitzgibbon, Obst and Tickle are by far ahead of Yeaman when it come to our top performer so far.
Other players have cost us tries. Why single out Sharp. Didn't Sharp score in each of our first 4 or 5 games?

Christ, don't look for the positives that he was our top try scorer at one point.
Lets just run with the fact that he's made a few errors and isn't good enough, despite the fact our right side defence is constantly pulled out of position, he makes good yards and clean breaks and knows where the try line is.

| Must admit I am worried about Sharp's positioning at times and he should have had the ball covered. Was probably expecting too much, I always hope a new signing will be a superstar and the answer to all our problems. Very pleased with Obst though

| Despite all his frailties and been lightweight, I like Sharpe. Wingers rarely see the ball in the modern game but he's always willing to work hard and go looking for it. He'd take the ball up every tackle if possible. Any player that's constantly in a 3 on 1 diffensive situation is always going to struggle. Will can only work on his personal game for the 1 on 1 situations and should not be held in account for other players out of position. It may also help if he starts to get a regular centre partner who he can build up a positional understanding with, ironic jeering is not going to help, save that for the ref.

| I was there and what I saw was a winger coming some 20metres infield to try and defuse a horridly bouncing ball that shoud've been dealt with by the 'infield' players; the lot of them stood and watched the ball. Sharp for me did nothing more than try to clean up their mistake.
I'm happy with Sharps contribution to the game.

| Yeah, he's made one or 2 errors but I think he's contributed more positives to the team than negatives and he's got the right attitude, reminds me a bit of Calderwood in that respect. If we stick with him I think he'll develop into a really good winger.

Couldn't agree more.
The bounce of the ball was horrendous and is even mentioned in the Sky text report of the game.
I hate it when fans get on a players back. I dont think anyone can say he doesn't give his all or makes mistakes on purpose (except the original poster ).

Other than that I thought he had a good game, carried the ball up well, made an excellent break and generally looked busy. Was pretty impressed with his performance, but the treatment some fans gave him was out of order IMO (when he caught the ball after his balls up and that sarcastic cheer went up and when some booed him off when he got subbed).'"
The fact the ball shouldn't have got to him is hardly an excuse for what he did though. he's costing us at least a try a game with his errors. if it had been hall still with us and doing it the lynch mob would be out

| I like Sharp he works hard, and when he gets the chance to run at pace he is a very exciting young player, although i feel he needs to compose himself a little more, and yes he did make a couple of mistakes with his positioning but so do a lot of our experienced players missed tackles, offloading the ball, stupid passes, Sharp is a talented young guy, where i was sat people clapped him off, but for some fans to boo at an individual player like that is shameful

| He's 24 not 17! He runs hard and works all game and he's got balls in the way he keeps coming back for more BUT he really ought to have learned the basics of positional play and needs to cut out his high profile clangers. I think him learning in the first team is a luxury we can't afford at the moment.

He is a far better player than Lynn imo. I reckon Whiting may get put on the wing. Or if Gleeson comes then Turner might go there.
Harsh on Sharp though, okay he has made the odd error but I think he has done well.

| Too much manby pamby rubbish being thrown around on this thread for my liking.
The fact is Sharp has been shocking far too often this year. You can argue all you like about who should or shouldnt have dealt with that kick last night, but the fact remains that Sharp was in a position to diffuse the situation and fluffed it horribly.
He made a great run from acting half last night, but then had a brain freeze moment 20 seconds later and decided to put in the most terrible kick on the 3rd tackle. Unfortunately, his brain freeze moments occur far too often.
I can see that he is putting in sufficient effort, but the cold hard facts are that at this moment in time he is not good enough and teams will continue to exploit his weaknesses.
If some fans choose to boo, then that's their business, after all players are only too happy to accept the cheers when things are going well so should be prepared for a bumpy road when they are under performing. However, what some of the "perfect fans" on here seem to forget is that the boo birds don't come out willy nilly and boo every knock on or missed tackle, they come out when players make continued mistakes for a prolonged period of time and at the moment, Sharp falls into that bracket.

Well summed up that.
I think the fact that the opposition coaches have chosen to target him relentlessly speaks volumes.
That said, I do like the kid and hope he improves and does well for us. He needs to focus more in defense.

| I think some time in the 20s might benefit him in terms of confidence. He's made a couple of glaring errors in the last 2 weeks and is sometimes, if not always, at fault positionally. Still a young lad maybe just a few weeks out of the first team pressure cooker might help him. He has a lot of positives to his game as well as the headline negatives.

No-one is claiming to be a "perfect fan" just because they find booing individual players (or ironic cheers when they are subbed) wrong.
People are entitled to do it, I just think it makes them look idiots.
