If any one thinks that SL will manage 20+ games next season is living in cloud cuckoo land, the guy is shot, we should never have signed him in the first place imo, if he wants to carry on his career then fine, but let him do it on someone elses treatment table and at someone elses expense!

that's quite easy to say with hindsight. somone earlier pointed out that his injury late in the season could have happened to almost anyone regardless of age

i think longy will get more games next season, even playing with horne. optimistic i know but some of us are i guess

Said it when we signed him, wasnt in hindsight. Saints new they had had the best out the guy, thats why they were happy to be rid. What evidence do you have to think that the guy will play more games next season? Have we discovered some new anti aging drug?
We need to be doing all we can to be lining up a top half back for 2012,

Dykes was a real class act here, I was surprised just how good a scrum half he was after watching him play most of his career at 6 or 13, when he played we played, I think for me that's the biggest disappointment for me with Long is that we are clearly a better team with him but he also had some poor games too.

Would have been a fantastic signing, had his body not been held together with Sellotape. We were a different team with him on the park.

I guess he must have learnt a lot from Kimmorley over a career.

Agreed, we are a better team when Long plays now but the difference between when Dykes played and didn't play in 2008 was massive, he was awesome in the semi, I remember a fans forum in late 2007 and Sharp was asked about signing a 7 and he said although he hasn't played there often he felt that Dykes had the quality to play there, i remember him saying he felt Cronulla played better with Kimmorley injured and Dykes filling in at 7, maybe if he stayed fit Sharp would have still been in a job.

As I said on my latest post, when asked about Dykes ability to play at 7 Sharp had some kind of stat to suggest that Cronulla played better with Dykes covering at 7 then they did when Kimmorley was fit.

Hopefully he's right and we can have him, and Horney, for a good 20+ games together. We all know what he can do when he's playing consistently.

Let's not knock the idea till back end of next season, when we have a much better idea of where we are at.

Even if he plays all games next season he will be too old to be given another contract AS A PLAYER.

He had 3 injuries last season which were supposedly not down to age and could have happened to anyone, but they didn't, the happened to long so maybe you could read something into that fact

I still have faith in Long though, in fact I am less concerned about Long than I am Horne for next season.
