Saints trys were scored for exactly the same reason that we've conceeded loads of trys outwide this season. Our sliding defence isn't sliding fast enough.

We actually defend really strongly down the middle which is probably down to us loading the middle with too many defenders. If we can just sort the sliding defence out I agree we should have a chance against anyone.

just before Melo scored after they had got a penalty under posts i looked at our line and was probably 6 player in spitting distance if the uprights and i thought they throw it wide we are in danger and hey ho guess hwat happened

Yep. Said exactly the same thing at the time. We had 4 men in the tackle but still had too many players defending that area instead of shifting across so the men returning from the tackle could defend the middle channel.

Credit to Agar for the half time team talk. Dont understand him carrying an unused Hall on the bench though.

Mcshanes injured and if you put Burnett on thats 2 props and 2 back rowers, well technically 3 and 1.

Manu would move into the centres if we injured a back like he has earlier this season. I'd rather carry 4 forwards and use them than 3 forward and 1 back and not use the back.

Manu only briefly went into centre and still had to be replaced by Berro doing it

Not using one of the 4 subs puts extra work onto the other 16 players. Normally a team that doesnt use all of its subs loses the game. We were lucky in that regard. Waste for me. If Burnett had been on the bench we could have rotated Tickle towards the end etc. Not a smart move to carry an unused back.

Im not fickle and haven't changed my mind one bit about Agar's position as head coach, the wins against Cats and Cas proved nothing to me and nor should they have to anyone else who knows what they are talking about. That said, today's win was outstanding, the players could easily have buckled when they were so far behind and to come back and win from a defecit like that against Saints is astonishing. I don't know how much Agar had to do with it in reality but I've bashed him enough so in this instance I'll give him the credit.

Richard Agar gets a week off from me thanks to this result, but people in this thread crowing that he's proved all his doubters wrong, shown us up to be 'numpteys' etc are seriously deluded, I stand by my opinion that we will amount to nothing while he's in charge.

I think the question is DID WE WIN - Even Agar to his credit would not have put the flapper that is Craig on in a game like it was tonight. I along with most dont understand why he was a sub anyway. I can only assume he needed to cover the backs i n case of injury.

i not an agar nocker, far from it, im not sure it was a good half time team talk tho, maybe a sensible one.

The first half we really were not as bad as the scorline suggested, yes we did defend our line poorly but saints were constantly fished down field so instead of defending the half way we was defending our line. allthough that doesnt excuse our defence, and i really dont think we were as dirty as the first half suggested.

well do you? He even admitted his half time team talk wasn't much more than repeating what he said at the start of the game. It could just as easily have been the input of Fitz, Ogre etc that got us back into it rather than Agar's tactics and motivational skills... I said he was getting the credit from me though!

IF we win something this year THEN I will give credit to Agar. However one win against an injury ravaged Saints at home by 1 point does not a sucessful coach make!
I'm stoked about the win don't get me wrong but Agar is not the man to take Hull RLFC forward to silverware & a period of our team been able to dominate sides in attack and/or defence.
The man lacks depth/speed of thought & individual/team management, that alone says to me he is the wrong man for the job & has been since his tenure started.
I don't even need to be told how good or bad a rugby coach he is, I can base my decisions on what I've seen/listened to & his inactions/ineffectiveness in previous games to instill the right tactics & attitudes of the players to win matches.

he isn't the right coach for the job In my humble opinion & we will continue to under achieve whilst he is at the helm.
