| Quote ="Robbo4"Again you are taking this one particular event as the only donation the club is making through the whole year. For all you know £2 of every season pass sold went to the charity so I've given twice as much as you and am doubley annoyed at not getting any credit for it.
This is just one way the club decided to try and raise money during the whole year.'"
Again I can only comment on the current event which is splashed all over the website, what if the club have not donated any money from pass sales? Its all if's and but's, right now there is one event to discuss so pointing to the rest of the year is pointless as none of us know what is being arranged.

| Quote ="Robbo4"In this one particular instance you mean? Taken to its extreme any money the club donates was generated from the fans anyway so the club should never get any credit at all as the money always comes from the fans.
If people want to be so petty they need "credit" for donating £1 to charity I feel sorry for them.'"
Donating to charity should be a choice not a term or condition for watching the sport and team that you have a passion for.
For me its not the amount, charity or "credit" its the assumption and lack of freedom to make that choice to donate.
Why not have a couple of volunteers dressed up holding buckets, stood in the concourse?

Please don't patronise me, I have no issue donating to charity although I don't like being told which ones and how much. I also want no credit for it but I don't excpect Hull FC to be waving their arms saying look what we've done, when actually they have done feckall other than collect money.'"
Where have you been told which ones to donate to? Its the clubs chosen charity that they will be donating to throughout the year using money generated from the fans. This is just one way they decided to raise money for it.
I dont think I'm being patronising at all. Were discussing an issue we seem to look at from very differing angles. Whats the problem?

Fair enough.
I just think the fact that the club do not mention the money is actually from the occasional fans (not even pass holders) is gaulling.
But then I find it odd that we have an "official charity", we should be generating money for the Foundation, Jack Harrison tournament etc.

My money goes to CR, I have not decided that or decided how much to donate. The club are making that decision for me and charging me for it. All I am doing is choosing to watch my team.
I have no problem and I don't want any credit. I just think it's been poorly handled and I will always praise/criticise the club were I see fit.
If I really objected I would not have bought a ticket and watched it on the TV but I never.

When they actually hand over the final cheque after the years worth of fundraising I am sure they will mention the fans etc. They have also had the shirts produced for the leeds match and organised that with the sponsor and I assume there will be many more likewise activities. If the club didn't do these things the charity would not of got that money IMO.
But its all about opinions I suppose.

| I would have liked to have seen the extra £1 on ticket prices mentioned in the article in order to make it clear that the money is over and above normal takings for the match. Otherwise I don't have a real problem, and the fans ARE explicitly mentioned in the body of the text, albeit by the CIN rep and not a club spokesman.
As for cash being donated from pass holders for this particular game, I again don't have a problem with that provided FC make a contribution from their general cash reserves during the course of the year. Whether this is an explicit cash donation or money spent on organising fund raising activities is immaterial IMO.
ATEOTD a charity will be significantly better off for the club's involvement. That's what counts IMO rather than the wording of press releases.

Isn't it Children in Need?
At the end of the day a charity is better off to the tune of £15k+ because the club decided to do something.

TBF they are doing other things as well and plan to have other fund raising events. If the club choose to release a press release with a positive spin on how the money was raised I dont really have a problem with it especially as we as fans bask in the reflected glory of the club.

| I think this has been handled badly and rather than complain on here I have told the club so too! The fact is though that any donation will be etched as from the fans of Hull FC and not from the club alone, and there will be other events during the year for season ticket holders to make their donations. Should have been a bucket collection at the Local Derby IMHO but its for a good cause and not worth over reacting about!!
Thought this thread was from a Dobbins fan ( Well its from Hutchie ) about how few kids concessionary tickets Rovers were getting for the game, Oh but we'll save that for next week!!!

They have announced them as Charity of the year and worn specific charity shirts and announced they will be doing other events. Does none of that count as evidence?

[iHull FC Rugby League Club announced BBC Children In Need as their official charity for 2009 earlier this year. The new partnership was launched at their pre-season match when the club wore their Pudsey endorsed kit and tackled the Leeds Rhinos.[/i
[iJames Rule, CEO of Hull FC said: “Hull FC are proud to be working with such a well respected charity as BBC Children in Need. We look forward to supporting its good work in the forthcoming year with the exciting initiatives planned.”[/i
As we are only 4 games into the new season I would expect further events as the season goes on.
