| It was immediately obvious Griff had done his achillies, as he went down in screaming in agony unchallenged.
Fages, could have just picked the ball up and paused and waited for the whistle, however in the middle of the semi final you can understand him scoring the try.
However, after the try, there was sufficient time for Saints Coach/Captain to decide to give Hull a walk in try to balance out the incident. Similar to Bielsa’s call with Leeds United v Aston Villa the other season. They chose not to.
Sad thing is, if Saints win at Wembley no one else but us will think about this incident. The headlines will just be Saints win at Wembley for the first time since 2008.

If this incident had been the other way round we as Hull fans would all be saying the Hull player was correct in picking up the loose ball and scoring the try.'"
I think you misunderstood me, play to the whistle is exactly what I’d expect any player to do, my query is, was that said whistle blown early enough, considering Josh’s obvious pain and discomfort.
As for throwing the ball away, he was probably in excruciating pain, and any actions in that situation would be far from normal.
Just hope Griff recovers well, he was looking good just before that incident, a right hammer blow for him.

| I've not read back 23 pages so I I don't know if this has been mentioned.........
Spin back a minute or so before "the" incident and you will see a Hull player (pretty sure it was Griffin!!) tackling Makinson and deliberately twisting his ankle when the tackle is completed (the ankle injury he is just recovering from!) - the surrounding Saints players appeal to the ref about the deliberate foul play and Makinson is clearly unhappy with the tackle....... if we are talking about "playing fair" then we should all look at the complete picture - no Saints player caused Griffin's injury - a Hull player (probably Griffin) deliberately tried to injure Makinson - if we are going to get all sanctimonious about Fages being unsporting what about Griffin a minute before????

You need undoubted proof to say someone DELIBERATELY twisted a players ankles to injure him, now jog off.

well he certainly wont play again this season
Throwing the ball away was an observation not a criticism as people were saying he dropped the ball or spilled the ball

I recall seeing something. Happened in the first half. Think Swift was in the tackle too. Makinson certainly didn’t look happy after the tackle.

Totally get that but Griff was in our 20 and had a few players ready to tackle him so was hardly going to gain any advantage by feigning injury there. To push them so close with only 8 minutes remaining is testament to how well we've improved as a team was so proud of the lads.

Good point. There been a few examples of players holding their necks and “simulating” a crusher tackle and going down with a head injury when defending the line. Sometimes gains a rest for their team-mates plus the deliberate “6 again” early in the count is another example of manipulation of the rules to let a team set their defensive line.
Wire seem particularly adept at these “dark arts” but most teams will do it eventually if it’s not stopped (like the PTB into a prone player from a couple of seasons ago for a penalty...,.)

Listen mate, you are the worst kind of poster, if you wish to channel your hate against the Warrington team, put it on their board, don’t use our board as a vessel for your obvious attempts at trouble making.

I attended the game and was sat near the commentators, so didn’t see anything untoward, you encouraged my ire by coming on here to say he definitely did it, you should have suggested it took place as another poster did. Did you watch it on tv because as I said, I couldn’t see anything untoward and no one around me suggested anything had happened. Haven’t watched the televised game so have no idea if the commentary team mentioned it.
No disparaging claims there then!!'"
It is a disparaging claim, your supposed to be innocent until proven guilty. I’m surprised Savellio didn’t get a ban for hitting a Saints player with the lower 2/3rds of his arm. The amount of head high tackles Saints got away with was ridiculous.

I’ve just read that the disciplinary ruled that there was no shoulder charge in the Savellio incident, as I said earlier it depends what you want to see as opposed to what actually happens.

My last post on this subject..........
I was watching on TV and so I accept that I had a better view of the incident than you would have at the match - you didn't see it - the commentators didn't mention it - the officials didn't see anything wrong with it.. but clearly that doesn't mean that it didn't happen - it did! I originally posted my belief that Griffin was "guilty" to use your terminology - the Disciplinary committee looked at the incident and also decided that he was "guilty". I don't know what's disparaging about that! It will clearly be non-productive to point out the irony of you making the totally disparaging comment about the supposed high tackles that Saints got away with - it obviously depends on what you want to see (to quote!!)
