Yeah, I know some had words to say about Radders coming back to us but honestly so long as a player gives his all (even if that isn't quite enough to get us to the top) how can anyone berate them.
So many so called fans on here spout absolute gash and don't have the foggiest not just about sport but about human beings/life...

Good post, I'm will be leaving my job in 5 weeks and nobody at my workplace have been giving me abuse for moving as I have my own personnel reasons for leaving.
Tom has given his all for Hull, in every game he has played, he has stayed with us through some tough periods and if he chooses to leave at the end of his contract then i have no hard feelings for him (although I would be disappointing in him if he signs for Salford).
I really hope tom stays and see that we are building towards something very good here at Hull, I don't think we are far off competing with the big teams regular for trophies.

| Quote ="knockersbumpMKII"So the two vital penalties he won when we were struggling to get out of our twenty were poor, yes he might have done a little better for the Monaghan try but what else did he do wrong exactly?
I think the vitriol shown towards Tom by quite a few posters is absolutely disgusting, so what if he goes to Leeds, how is that disloyal, it doesn't matter whom he goes to, he has been a fantastic player for us and worn/played with the black & white jersey on his back with pride as far as I can see.
Yes he still makes some defensive errors that could be ironed out but even then we are seeking perfection for a lad who is only 23!
His ability to get us on the front foot or earn us a penalty/quick play the ball time and time again and his ability to bust tackles and score some amazing tries far far outweighs his defensive lapses (& I say lapses because he is a very decent/courageous defender) and I'd rather have him over Dixon/Hall/Charnley et al any day of the week.
If he goes I'll be sorry but I'll wish him all the best and talk of dropping him is the biggest load of nonsence, just as dropping Manu was last year, same old faces spouting the same old $h1te..give your heads a good shake and try to understand what that actually means.
Seems obvious that those spewing this rubbish have no idea the effect this has not just on the individual but on the team, it's not just morally wrong, it's wrong in so fact it effects us, HULL FC and our ability to win games, we put out strongest team out and at the moment that includes Tom, if you don't agree then you are in cloud cuckoo land.
It sometimes worries me that fans get on the back of players who decide they want to go to pastures new, a bit like Manu who has been castigated time & again, so what, players move on, that is the way of the world. That some fans seem to think by leaving FC they are being disloyal clearly have personal mental health issues of their own and need a huge reality check...
GET A GRIP FFS!'"
This!!
He's a winger for christs sake, how much can he do? Im sure some people on here wont be happy until he's playing at prop, second row, seven and kicking 5 40/20's a game.
Tom is an outstanding player. Look at some of the tries he has scored, and just as importantly, the tries he has saved. Catching and hauling Kear over the dead ball line against bradford this season, the tackle on fox in the derby when it looked easier to score. Pinching the ball off Dorn as he was set to put it down. the list goes on. There isnt another winger in super league that I would swap him for, and I certainly dont believe there is another winger in super league who has his ability to change a game. He will be a huge loss. As much as I like Crookes, he simply isnt in the same class. Enjoy him while we have him people, because I guarantee you won't see how much work he does for this team until he's no longer in it. For those of you who say he's going through the motions, see his reaction to the try on friday night!

| Tom is a fantastic player and most i importantly for me he is a game changer, and they are a rare commodity.
To say he wouldn't be missed if he does go is silly, but I agree with the point about wanting players who want to play for the club. We do also have players who could (would have to) take his place if he goes but if there were better options then they would be keeping him out of the team already.
If he wants out, fine let him go, I have no problem with that - but I would rather he didn't.
As for playing him for the rest of the season or letting someone else "bed in" instead, don't talk daft you put the best team you can out there.

| Briscoe hasn't changed a game single handedly for a long time now, if he ever has at all.
How can people compare moving jobs to a player, and (to some) a fans favourite as well, moving clubs? One of the most stupid arguments I've heard.

the cover tackle on fox at your place, game saver so guess a changer, and slightly less specific but u were level and struggling to get out of your 20 and he broke down the middle and finished in the corner momentum changer at least i was there with my dark side wife but cant remember the game

Depends on what you class as game changing, that try just sealed what was already looking like a win. Same scenario last Friday too.
Game changer to me is when you're losing and really under pressure and someone produces a big play to really get you on the front foot and your side then goes on to win. Very few players spring to mind, tbh. Jamie Shaul's try at Wakey was certainly that, you could make a case that our complete season changed after that play.

I agree. I'd say Briscoe's more a player that can produce moments of brilliance (his late try on Friday night being an example of this) rather than a game changer but he has had his game changing moments. That superb last minute tackle on Fox in the derby in 2010 won us the game so that has to be considered a game changing moment.

Agreed, Briscoe has finished opportunities well on a number of occasions, he's not changed a game in recent times.

I would say that that is a bit of a narrow view of ‘game changer’ play.

Rather than be a complete game changer, its the off the cuff things he can do which take the eye.
His Try against Leeds last season, He try against St's at home 2011, The break which made Yeaman try against rover in 2011. His tries at Cas and Wakey a couple of season ago spring to mind of him doing things which other perhaps can't. Its not just finishing off moves, its creating opportunities for himself due to his strength and speed.
Just my opinion of course.

That's kinda what I meant really - maybe the label I gave it causes offence to some. It's the ability/threat which is what I'm getting at, which he has in abundance; as highlighted by the plan of "give it to Willie or Tom" employed over the past few seasons because they were the only pair who might make something happen (much less prevalent this year as we have other options available, plus no Willie of course!).
Game changing/moment of brilliance is a matter of timing. You could argue that a game changer makes the timing happen, but as a winger it's a little more difficult than, say, a scrum half, and I think in general when there is opportunity (not as much this season admittedly) Tom does this. Yes you could argue that the try last week for example wasn't "game changing" because we were in front already, but who knows what wouldn't have happened if that opportunity hadn't been taken.
It's also not just big eye catching things that fall into this category for me, its the little things too like a relieving penalty won at the play of the ball (a particular forte of Tom's) or that half break that puts you back on the front foot, all of which add up to turning the game or turning the screw.

A valid point but a lot of the examples given so far have been the "eye catching" stuff and that for me isn't always game changing but rather Tom showing everyone what an exceptional talent he is.
