It's hardly an implausible statement. We may or may not end up signing someone but why would I assume that we're not even looking? I'd have to be some kind of conspiracy nut.

Why would things be desperate BTW? I never expected much in the way of signings for next year - and I said as much once we'd finished recruiting for this season.

There will be more players coming in 2 possibly 3.

TBF, looking at who's available it would take some miracle signing to alter my view of our chances for next year.

It won't be a miracle signing but a fullback, halfback and a prop would strengthen us and give us more options to cover the halves in terms of injuries and form.

This season was never going to be a big one in terms of new players, next year will be different and I hear our targets have already begun talking to us.

To change our style of play the fullback, halfback and prop better all be International standard.

This season always had the potential to be a big one imo based on our signings. I've now lost confidence after a number of seasons that next year will be anything different.

TBH if we just got better cover for HB and FB that would improve our chances considerably. And we don't need miracle signings there for them to be better than our current options.

Surely whether they strengthen us or not, would be dependent on who they are wouldn't it ?

Ewan Dowes and and no-mark Aussie utility back who nobody wants, for instance, wouldn't strengthen us at all IMO.

I agree that with the lack of quality players now available and the weaknesses in our squad, Agar is going to have to pull off a couple of very good signings which doesn't look at all possible. In those circumstances, it is fair to question how competitive we can be next season.

Agar is holding us back, thats why we need miracle signings to compensate for out poor coach. Average signings would do well under a new coach.

Having a proper 6/7 playing every week will be a huge improvement.

But the other players outside of them will still not be giving them options or running dummy runs etc. Our coach doesnt have a clue.

Going into a season with a 6 AND a 7 that don't spend a lot of time injured would have been a huge improvement. It shouldn't be a surprise to anyone that we found ourselves with no half-backs last season should it ?

Yes it turned out to be in the extreme but we all knew the score and questioned our back-up options WHEN it happened. I remember being told by Agar that it wasn't a problem because we had a number of options.

That number turned out to be "0" and we only had ourselves to blame.

Yet he challenged for the top four all season and finished about Justin Morgan who people have down as a worldbeater.

I don't always understand this coaching debate.

Maguire was unproven, his plus point was he had worked under arguably the best coach around in Bellamy but he was a gamble.

Brown had a great squad at St George and constantly failed to deliver.

If we had sined either of those fans would not have been happy as they would not have appeared as a top class coach at the point of signing them.

The there are the likes of Matterson, Rea, Sharp and Potter.

It's not a magic wand and is Agar was not here I would love to know who people would want and why.

Actually that's not true. We did have a number of options - sadly they all turned out to be inadequate.

The issue there for me is that FC have a far greater squad on paper than Rovers. (as i said the other day tongue in cheek)

If Agar could get 110% out of us like Morgs gets out of Rovers we'd be top 2 imo.

I said we were in for Fielden, we missed out. We offered money for Myler, it never happened. We will bring in 2/ players of that I am quite sure, however what is the rush?

I think Tansey at fullback, two halves from Horne/Long/new signing plus Whiting/Washy at 13 would offer plenty of creativity and with Berro in the centres and Sharp/Briscoe on the wing we have plenty of strike options. What we do need is our forwards to make better runs and push more.

Of course not...... if he had have done, why would i put it on here and make myself look stupid aswell??





However, i happen to know for a fact that i is a vastly reduced salary in one of those player's case and fully expect the same with the other.... Money isn't the issue, the issue was the length of the contract!!
