Are people watching SL extra time? Agar rolling his eyes, looking up to the sky as he trots through his platitudes going on about 'smarts' etc... You can tell he knows he's not up to it but also knows he's onto too much of an easy ride to ever jack it in. A genuine parasite on the club.

I get the impression Long doesn't want to play for Agar. Just watched the last 5 min of the 1st half and couldn't see any evidence of him pulling up with anything, they said on Sky he had a calf strain.

Reckon you might be right. Although given the poor crowd (for a season opener) tonight I think attendances will finally drop this season if this goes on.
I can't see us winning until the 18th March when we play Wakey. If that's the case, by then we may even see our first sub 10,000 crowd for years.
Plummeting attendances may force a change, who knows.

The club's income stream,will dictate , if Agar stays or goes.

We couldn't attract a world class coach, Agar seems to have all the right attributes off the field, he says the right things, the players seem to respect him, he is looking to change the culture of the club in a positive way in terms of the drinking culture etc, just a shame he gets it so wrong on the field with his lack of attacking structure and up the middle rugby, we just need someone with similar ideals as Agar, but with a more positive attitude towards the game.

As far as sitting back and watching "our" club go backwards: I was a shareholder of the previous regime. I have supported the club since the early 60s. I've seen the highs and I've also seen plenty of lows.

The one thing I have (albeit reluctantly) realised, is that the current administration will not bow to fan-pressure. Agar will stay for as long as they want him to stay and no petition is ever going to change their minds.

Realise those facts and get on with life

The problem we have now is it's more than likely going to be played 5 lost 5 by the time we've played Huddersfield, Crusdaders and Wigan. The board will trot out we've had a hard start to the season, but things will improve.The only thing that will improve the team is to remove the whole coaching set up , youth and A team included and starting again.

Haven't read all 15 pages, but as a neutral, after watching both your games so far it seems to me you've got a lot of very talented players who just aren't playing as a team. Lots of individual brilliance from the likes of Briscoe, Whiting, Houghton, Yeaman, Sharp, but no structure for them to work with.

Unfortunately we can't criticise the coach, cos he's the coach!

Yeah, I saw that. Great, isn't it? One knock on is enough to drag off a 24-year-old who's looking fresh and dangerous, but back-to-back penalties from a flagging 33-year-old last week meant nothing. Further proof that it's about who you are, not how you're playing.

Despite Sky's comments about our efforts, I don't think we really think we came close to Leeds tonight. We scored from 2 short range barges, and didn't attempt to play any other rugby until too late. Worth noting that Leeds played the last half hour with only 14 players to rotate and we still didn't throw it about enough for 2/3rds of that time. They were also missing McGuire, Peacock, Bailey, Lauitiiti, and Cross, yet still looked on cruise control until fatigue started to set in.

Fitzgibbon again plays 80 minutes while Lauaki only gets 15 (and not until the 48th minute - why was O'Meley replaced by Washbrook instead of Lauaki in the first half?), we still have no support play or dummy runners (even Stevo is onto that one now), our defence out wide has the same problems no matter who plays on the wings, and whilst he's not had much time with his teammates yet I thought Obst only looked any good from dummy half, yet it looks like he may already be promoted to starting scrum half now.

On the positive side, Whiting and Sinfield's kicking kept the score down.

Well another poor showing from us tonight.

Leeds spent a great deal of the game with forwards injured, thus making the fit forwards do a lot of extra minutes on the pitch. A decent coach would have got the team pinning them deep in their own half and tiring them out. We saw no sign of this happening.

Whiting had a great game and saved numerous tries tonight, and when he made a break nobody was backing up the man who has no pace, whats that all about?

Houghton had a good game as well, but being flogged for 80 minutes a game is not going to improve him as a player and will increase his chances of picking up an injury as fatigue sets in.

Agar said about our attacking prowess before the game, but when your first two tries come from a prop forward it shows how inventive we are in attack.


I am really sick of watching the same old rubbish week in and week out, we have had it for 3 seasons and this season looks like more of the same. Granted we will get the odd decent performance but they will again be few and far between.
