| just got back, good win imo, 3 matches in 8 days is a lot and hull look shattered 2nd half but fair play they tackled themselves to a standstill, in attack we still lack spark but all in all a very good win, well played hull

your right but they are still 2/3 weeks away.
We are looking at the same 17 unfortuneately for the Sheffield game unless Sa is injured again but it looked more like cramp

| Got bored of:
a) Sky comentators going on about how having rested 6 players Widnes would win the energy game (wrong!)
b) Sky comentators praising the of Messiah Brown and how wonderful he was
c) Sky comentators wishing Widnes would Score/win/etc..
Silverwood was rubbish..
Our attack was not good..
Our Kicking game was poor..
Out sixth tackle play was poor...
But very happy with the win.
Well done Tom Lineham - top Scorer in the league Deserved MoM - didn't make a mistake all game.
Shaul looks very dangerous with the ball in broken play -
Defence was pretty solid - but we really need to think of an attacking strategy - as we don't appear to have one.

| Quote ="UllFC"Good to get a win but that was a dog of a game, the sooner the outdated practice of playing twice at Easter is binned the better! Same happens every year that the Easter Monday games and the round after are slow paced turgid games. The refereeing performance was also a shambles, but not a lot new there!
Still a few better performances from some of the more unsung members of the squad such as Cunningham and Rankin. [uEven though we will have some players back for the Hudds game we should stick with the players who have stepped up and performed this week. For example I don't want to see Yeaman automatically recalled when Naughton, Michaels, Talanoa and Lineham looked our best 3/4 line we've had this year.[/u'"
Agree. Encouraging, this back line. Let's not break it.

Ellis back means Sa to centre,if Sa stays fit he will do some serious damage.

Sadly actually going is not an an option on Friday night as I am usually working Late or Have my Boys and 6 is not really a good age to do a 300 mile round trip...

| Its the 2 points that matter. It was essential we win tonight and we did.
Plenty of effort and commitment from the players but also more than a few mistakes and some poor decision making and we still don't look convincing in attack.
Some of our tries were a bit lucky but at least we took the chances.
Margin could have been greater but for poor refereeing.
Lots of work to do but something to build on and cause for optimism when we get some players back.

| I'd look to replace Michaels with Sa.
A win was the most important thing tonight. They rested a few Monday but to counter that they were down on interchanges. Scrappy game not helped at all by shocking policing of the 10 by Silverwood.
Moving on to Sheffield I'd definitely look to rest Minichiello & Pryce by bringing in Abdull & Turgut. Not sure we have much more movement than that.

| We desperately needed those 2 points tonight so job done.
Defended well I thought on the whole but our last tackle plays were shambolic. I lost count of the number of 20 metre restarts they got. houghton at fault on a few by taking the wrong option on the final tackle. We looked much better when cunningham came on. Difficult to be too critical though after a tough easter period with a few important players out. I thought paea was excellent again tonight

Two hookers on the bench and we still play Houghton for 60 minutes without a break. Same with Sa, hasn't played for a few weeks, but us played for too long and starts to looked tired.

| Good, solid and deserved win. Best sliding defence I've seen from us in a long time - despite being a side that that use width Widnes never got around us really. Even more surprising given they must have been much fresher than us. Shame we couldn't convert at least one of the breaks we made down our right but all in all, especially with the joke decisions, a good two points. Plenty to work on as ever but our right side in particular looked decent.

Thought Michaels went OK - at least as good as Yeaman. His shirt to lose IMO.

| Would like to see Sa in the centre soon as possible. Sa n mini going at the opposition left will take a toll. Shame we've seen so little of it.
Also how hard is Sa. To play like that with that physicality when you've had a facture of your back. Seems every time he does play he leaves a man on the floor with either attack or defence. Adds some mean to us.

| Only just got in and seen the result, well done to the players and coach on extracting a win at the end of an exhausting period..win ugly, win with flair..I don't rightly care as a win is a win.
Would I prefer we play champagne rugby, yes, but a tick in the W column is much more valuable than a fighting loss, let's hope we can somehow improve the attack and put a decent run of wins together, a loss next week and we are back to square one.

| Cunningham showed up well I though. Defence was good it's just attack in the final twenty . Been a big admirer of Houghton from his junior days but noticed on a number of occasions in their twenty he just passed to the nearest Man instead of going to Pryce or Rankin who werere set up either side with options.Perhaps they need to shout louder. I also think we seem to want to score off every set. We don't seem to build pressure by forcing drop outs. The commitment can't be faulted though. Great effort.
The answer is we get an attack coach to assist Radford.
As for Kevin Brown and crew can Betts rest them every time before they play us please.

| Glad for the victory and effort but in order to become a better side some basic fundamentals need sorting. Defensive line speed was way too slow all game giving Widnes the opportunity to make way too many easy yards. Attack again plenty of effort but was very one dimensional - we need a specialist attacking coach to come in asap. Thought Houghton did pretty well and Cunningham not so good if im honest. I like Pryce but Rankin isnt a half back imo but does a commendable job standing in for Sneyd. Still a win is a win and id much rather an unattractive win then a sparkling loss. We have a real chance to build some momentum now with the Sheffield and Wakey games coming up and both are must wins

Wakefield game is postponed due to the Cup game, the next three are Sheffield, Huddersfield (H), Salford (H). After that it's a visit to Warrington, currently struggling. Your point still stands, though. Need to get a run going as we enter the mid point of the first phase of the season.
