| Quote ="Sebasteeno"Are Gentle and McRae some kind of god like coaches that Seymour will obey and never transgress as all his previous coaches seem to not have not been able to kerb his ways despite the prospect at losing his job.
I was hoping for big things from him thinking he'd got over recent problems but thats obviously just been proven majorly wrong (remember this latest incident wasnt just drunk driving but trying to escape the police too) and it looks like he's simply another head the ball to join the long list of idiots weve had playing for us in recent times.
Personally i no longer want him here.'"
He has actually had a trouble free spell with the NZW so his coaches there managed fine without being "god like".
I'm not surprised at your kneejerkery!

He had a trouble free spell for the duration of the non drinking clause in his contract. As soon as it was over he was straight back on the pop! Looking at Seymour's record, it's anything but kneejerkery! It's a player that has continually let himself down throughout his career, and there is nothing to suggest that's going to change. Why would Gentle be any tougher than the 1st grade NRL coaches Seymour has played under?
I can't do anything other than condemn him, because I condemned Cockayne, Cooke, Aspinwall and Raynor for their indiscretions, and I refuse to be a hypocrite.

He never let NZW down. Even after been dropped to the reserves he still maintained his professionalism.
It's kneejerkery to say "I don wan't him at Hull" when he hasn't even got here yet.
I'm not a hypocrite either but every person deserves a chance and when he comes to Hull he does so with a clean slate and that's when I will judge him, as with Aspinwall.

Alcoholism is never cured. It's a permanent condition that requires permanent 'treatment'. However, many alcoholics get their condition under control and are able to function normally. One incident does not mean that he will never get back in control again, or even that he will not be back on the wagon by the time he gets here.

| Only a minor hiccup, as long as he keeps himself off the ale in hull he will be fine.
Suppose it all depends on how much support hull are willing to give him

At one of the fans forums a year or so ago, Richard Agar said they did exactly that. I imagine there is a clause in his contract covering the club if he does fall off the wagon again.

Watts deserved a chance as it was the first incident he has been involved in with the club.
A few years back FC made it clear that they was going to out trouble makers and remove the drink culture from the club or was that just under the previous regime?

And that's still the intention and should be of any professional sports team, Seymour hasn't started his FC career yet, from a playing side, so he has to be given a chance. You're talking as if he's breached club discipline in a previous time. If Watts deserved a chance then doesn't Seymour?

Im not saying Seymoor doesn't deserve a chance.
I was at golf today playing in a 4 ball, 3 FC fans and me. Obviously rugby gets a mention and the Seymoor incident which I did not know about at the time. Next, one of them mentioned how ashamed he was when the club signed Reardon a few days after a joint effort between the club and the NHS regarding physical abuse of females.
The club bring alot of this on themselves, well all of it infact.

The point been are you just inviting trouble with certain players who have been brought in when clearly at some point the club made a huge effort to rid the club of players with similar problems?

Well this signing is an appointment of the old regime and we can't exactly tear up a contract for no reason. I suspect that his contract as already started so any sackings would count on the cap meaning getting a replacement at this short notice would be a lot harder. With a lot of hype around the new board and future of the club it would be a serious own goal to go into the season without a decent half back.
Obviously I am not happy with the player acting like this as it could effect Visa's and even more so team morale. I'm happy for him to come over a quite word in his ear and give him a chance, monitor the situation and if it escalates then take action.
I don't really see Seymour as an alcoholic or a recovering one, more of a person who just can't say no to a good old shindig. He's getting older and hopefully more mature so I would imagine even more so after his marriage to finally settle down.

Think your wrong on that point. As long as you sack him before he plays a competitive game for you any monies paid to him won't count on cap. The bigger problem is finding a suitable replacement at short notice.
Whens he actually due over here?. If he gets past immigration then your club will have to sit him down and decide if its worth moving forward. If he cant get past immigration then its a moot point anyway. He has to notify the immigration officer as to the change in his status and after that its pretty much down to that particular immigration officers interpretation of the seriousness of the offence as to whether his visa is granted or revoked.
