What a game that was, it was on ITV with Clive Tyldsley commentating and Mal Menninga doing the half time summarising, He was amazed we had defences like that in this country.

When Greg put that last minute drop goal over Clive Tyldsley simply said "heartbreaker".....
and befitting a team with Greg Mackey in it both sides left the field to a standing ovation.

RIP a real nice bloke and bloody good Rugby League player.

Boy were the Warrington fans getting at him all afternoon too!! he shut em up though after 80 minutes of sheer power tackling from both sides! He refused to be intimidated and said in the HDM afterwards, “If they had hoped to put me off, then they certainly didn’t, the more they chanted the more I wanted to inspire Hull to victory”. Lovely fella, great to talk to, had time for everyone a real leader from half back too, Smithy once said, "There was no better player than Greg Mackey to have on your side" such a shame, true hero!!!

Just looked up his record, boy he was a tough little player. After he made his debut (Brian Smith having snatched him from Warrington after he had agreed a two year deal there) he missed the next game with an injury and then played 94 consecutive games before going back to Warrington wher he went on to play 98 consecutive matches!!

RIP Greg. A real character, the epitome of a talented and "cheeky" halfback. Apart from the game in 91 when he lifted the Premiership trophy, my lasting memory was at the 1991 reunion when he was being interviewed and all he wanted to hear was the room singing Ol faithful. He sure remebred the words and got it going.

Very sad news, RIP Greg

My memory of him was in a scuffle at the Boulevard, best stand side and just south the half way line. Greg came away from a melee of players with big Kelvin Skerrett throwing haymakers, none connected,Bluey backed off a yard and morphed into a classic Southpaw boxing stance. He stood his ground against the big bear. Toe to toe, nose to nose. Skerrett stopped swinging and walked away.I was v impressed, thought that was class.

was a tough "little" guy, him and Entat were the best partnership I ever saw in B&W at Boulevard, possibly the best ever, with an honourable mention for Hasler.
