| Never went to the game as I previously stated and it was the first final ive missed since 1980 but I am seriously unhappy with what gets served up on the pitch on a week to week basis. The Agar years turned me off paying large amounts of money to essentially watch garbage and I have seen very little to show that has changed under Gentle. Far too many times we look like we'll achieve only to give a performance of abject failure and low and behold we go and serve up that UTTERLY EMBARASSING PATHETIC attempt of a performance on what is a world stage.
The writing was on the wall from the warm up. Ive never seen a player looking as scared as Ben Crooks but nobody spoke to him, he was just left to fend for himself. Players who should be giving the performance of their lives ie Tickle and O'Meley gave their worst and the half backs were appauling. Anyone who thinks these two are the ones to lead to us to any form of glory need their heads looking at. Yes I know we defended but that's all we did but the score still shows 16-0 so we cant of defended that well against a Wigan team who didn't even look like the broke a sweat. Players who I have previously defended like Westerman seem to of had all ability to attack coached out of them, same goes for Watts.
For me though that performance yesterday embarrassed the club, the town, the fans and the game of rugby league. An estimated 20000 FC fans went yesterday which is double what we normally get for a home game so 10000 floating fans decided to spend their hard earned going to London and how many of those do you think will do that again? Not many imo
An utterly shameful performance that has to go down as one of the worst ever by an FC side and very dark day for the club and city as a whole

| Unless you were down there you couldn't realise just how bad the conditions were. It was heaving down. Wigan played the better wet weather rugby, just as Widnes did the other week v Wire.
BOTH sides defended really well, it's a side of the game that the vast majority of spectators seem to ignore, Harrison Hansen was superb in that facet of his game, how would have got the Lance Todd for me.
Anyway that's Challenge Cup #19 for Wigan, the third time we've nilled a club at Wembley and now become the FIRST town to hold the F.A. Cup and Challenge Cup in the same year.
Not bad for a little town eh!!!

I had a great day out in the company of some great people on coach 4 Airlie Bird Travel, met some old friends made some new ones. Enjoyed the atmosphere and the whole wembley experience and due to the rain it was a lot a lot longer visit then previous years. I did not enjoy the £4.70 a pint nor the £4.80 for a pie and crisps at £1.80 a packet was having a giraffe. The game was not a great by any standard and I do think the weather had a lot to do with that, one team managered to conquer the elements, the other did not. One team lost its one true inspirational leader on 25 mins and there after floundered, the other ground out an ugly win. It was ugly and it needed to be, I would have been satisfied at such a win, maybe not over the moon but it happens.
The journey home was not too bad, SPIRITS WHERE LOW , BUT AS HULL FANS WE ARE USED TO PAIN.
Would I go again next year knowing the result would be the same, yes because that is what the cups all about and being there is all important. Enough people in this city sitting on there keyboards bashing out hate and laughing at us, the bile of unfullfilled ambitions breeds and nurtures such people.

His reappearance after defeats should be the only motivation the team need. Its amazing how the most critical are those who won't spend their money on attending games.
We're well rid!!
As far as yesterday was concerned I think Wigan were poor and we were poorer. Defences were good for both sides but they had that little extra in attack plus the ability to not drop the ball as often as us.
Disappointed as are most FC fans but that won't stop me going or buying a season ticket for next year.
Well done Wigan. Hopefully one day it will be our turn. We'll just have to keep trying. And for our six-fingered cousins across the water can I just remind them that to lose a final at Wembley, you've got to actually get there. Perhaps you should try it more often.

Seb, firstly as a stay away "fan" you have no right to comment.
Secondly if you think that defensive display was embarrassing and pathetic, you are a bigger tool than you make out. If you consider O'Meleys game the worst he have played then you have lots to learn about the game you claim to know about.
Agree about Crookes, he should not have played.
If you are of such a negative opinion, don't follow the team and do us all a favour and don't log on here.

| As a rhinos fan I was rooting for you, but your boys never turned up. Wigan were very poor and I fancied you to beat a good Wigan team, which it was not. Defences may have been on top but how boring, it was so boring I fell asleep. We need some flair back in our game, not just defence, look at the 80's final between Wigan and Hull. Anyway well done for getting to the final through the hard part of the draw. I woke up just in time to see rat boy celebrate. On a positive I thought the kid at full back had a great game for you.

For once I largely agree with him. This is my seventh Wembley visit with Hull and definitely the worst performance, with so-called big players completely failing against a pretty average wigan team who at least had the brains to play to the conditions and keep it simple.
I have followed Hull since 1972 and have seen plenty of mediocrity over the years, but that performance yesterday, especially by some of our forwards, was an insult to the fans who spent hard-earned money following the team down there.
(Not sure if comment was about Crooks or Crookes, but they were both poor anyway)

A very good post and I think the last 2 lines sum it up perfectly, and the usual "we saved our worst display of the season for the final" pops up,did the forget the widnes away performance and several others.2 brilliant performances at warry and against leeds and reaching the final seem to have papered over the cracks !!

| It wasn't a 'crap' game, the skill level was seriously impaired but I was rivetted throughout despite how poorly we were doing and the poor options we were taking. I thought we could still do it even with 8 or 9 minutes to go as Wigan really didn't look that great, only our giving them the ball all the time made it seem less and less the longer it went on.
However it was not a crap/worst game ever, I've been more bored with runaway scoring matches were I'm wanting to go after 60 minutes or if on TV not even bother with the second half.
I bet a lot of fans think the same but are just pee'd off of the result and the amount of dropped ball.
It was a very viewable match but didn't produce the electric that we wanted it to.
Saying it is the RL's showpiece and that outsiders would have been dissapointed, so fecking what, union is boring almost every match, soccer is as drab as they come for 90% of the time... get over yourselves the lot of you and go support some other e sport because I still love mine despite losing

| Wasn't great at all which is true and it's hard to push the sport to the neutral with that as the show piece. But the very fact it is a complete sandbox and anything can happen on the day for good or bad is why people follow sport.
I find it hard to believe all of the bad press it has garnered as I have seen countless Premier League football matches which have been far less entertaining and lacked the guts and passion which were on show at Wembley.

Yes Expro, all is rosey in the garden of FC. We didn't just badly humiliate ourselves on a world stage, we have quality players across the park, Gentle doesn't do anything wrong, we are great defensively AND offencively. Long live Peter Gentle, hes MILES better than Sandybollox but has less resources but when Gentle gets his own team we'll be the talk of rugby league and all will bow down to us just by hearing our name
