Only upside to this I can see is were replacing him with a younger player who is just as good and makes things easier next season has we"ll only need 1or 2 props now , instead of 3 or 4 as was the case a few weeks ago . That's if it's true about Pitts, and radders as assistant because I'd heard hay over the weekend .

I dont see why just because he has played with the team is a bad thing..hel no there games and he has always struck me as a person who gets respect from his peers..he has coaching experience and a bag of knowledge of the game....i would be happy with this if true..like some have said hes coming to the end of his career and is a player who will defo end up in coaching regardless imo....would certainly prefer this to chester/hay

Would be happy with it, but we would need another forward on an already low in numbers pack. Promote a U20 for me.

Radford retiring will leave us a bit short at prop, but will hopfully allow some of the young players more gametime next year.

I can't really see that being a problem. He's expressed a wish to coach at a higher level , and I think he'll take the chance to give it 100% and not worry too much about upsetting a few ex-team mates now and again , if it's for the greater good.

i think he would still count against this years cap as he has a year of his playing contract remainin. But i think hed be a good coach surely has great respect within the game too

Exactly. I think we've signed up these young forwards quickly incase we don't have chance at signing any other prop/back rowers.

I think Radford has all the attributes to eventually become a first class head coach and taking an assistants role now is a natural progression. My only worry is whether clubs are actually providing a pathway for young British coaches to progress into a head coaches role as there is very little evidence of this happening at the moment.

You know whats next dont you, when Gentle goes in a three years Radford will be the next FC coach!

IF Radford is becoming an assistant coach then I would think it's because it suits FC, Gentle/McRae have probably noticed he's past it and want to get him off the playing squad, giving him a position as an assistant may be one way of achieving that.

Poor to average on the pitch and a dobbins fan that has never really had much good to say about the fans off the pitch. Fooked off at the first chance that he could and came back when not wanted anymore.

Only last year was quite prepared to "walk away" again, this time to our little envious neighbours.

He was Captain when we were WORST team in SL. I wouldn't have him as asst programme seller. He is driven by things that being part of a team may trouble him. He left for Bulls and he nearly went to KR. No interest in what he does

The RFL need to be the ones responsible for developing British coaches. the clubs will always put their own needs first

Its my experience moving someone from the shopfloor to management brings with it a raft of problems.

So are quite a few others in our squad,so are they in the same bracket as radders???? He went to Bradford when they were top of the pile,and tbh,who wouldn't have at the time? Bradford then offered him a new contract,but he CHOSE to return to fc.Plenty of players have left fc to go to rovers and vice versa,so dont read a lot into this dobbins loving s***.
