Sweeping generalisation but not far off the truth. The issue is that there are a lot of good people working at the council but they are not able to perform well because of the environment and management structure they work with.

An company set up and run externally may not have the same issues the council does?

Not particularly, he was interested in the potential revenue streams that the increased fan bases offered, and also saw potential to reduce overheads by running the clubs as one.

Having worked for the council and got back into the real world, most council workers remain because of their pension, not because they are any good or like the job

For what its worth, I remember well when the then Labour Council were under great pressure from the now ruling Liberal Democrats on Hull City Council to not spend £43m of the KC windfall on a Stadium. Lucky, I believe, they were unsuccessful and I for one am glad they were. Perhaps if the Counci had cocked that one up as well, then we would have still been at the Boulevard or even, perhap because the Gateshead merger was dependant enirely on the promise of the then Council leader of a new stadium ( Come and we will build it, if you like) we would have been no more!

The Council got it wrong when they allowed he SMC to have the same owners as the Fooball club, they were blinded I believe by Pearson, and they have got a deal of things wrong since then! However I believe building the Stadium was a good move by the Council!

But then what do I now I have never had a proper job!!

Duffen was on 5 Live about a year ago when 5 live said Hull City were one of a new breed of club. They said City were well managed financially and were performing whilst keeping the club financially stable at all costs !
What has happened is incredible and stupid.

Seem to remember Ridsdale saying something similar about Leeds United

10th highest wage bill....squad of 40 players,most of which are $hite and on good contracts.....looks as though Duffen has royally screwed up and let Brown sign any sod he liked.Spent money they have not got.

Pearson coming back will get us a test match....we know Duffen put the dates to them but i bet Pearson would have pushed harder for it as he likes the KC to be used to its full potentiol and i guess that ends the extension plans for a while (they wasnt viable anyway).

Trying to twist things now are we. Just so you’re clear, I was responding to a comment made specifically about THIS thread. At no point was city’s bandwagon boosted attendances mentioned.

However, on that subject, I wouldn’t be feeling too smug about the average attendance if I was a city fan. The finances are in a total mess as Mr Duffen has had you living way beyond your means. When City get relegated, I wonder how many of your new found fans will stick around next year to watch a cash strapped club struggle for survival in the championship? For your sake I hope is the vast majority of them or else your team really will be in the mire.

Duffen was full of rubbish as he always talked about the extension but in reality never ever ever ever had any £££££££ to build it.

TBH I now fear that relegation would cause City to do a Leeds but 5x worse as Leeds get 25,000 x £30 a ticket and Tigers would get 10,000 x £20 a ticket.
