I'm on the dole now, have been for 2 weeks, I'm certainly not lazy and I'm certainly not stupid. I find your comments highly offensive. You don't know how difficult it is to get work, there's nothing around and I have even tried supermarkets but I'm a skilled man and don't see why I should give up my skill. My last job was working in the east riding on a BP site but the contract has now ended. I'd like to know what you do, do you work for the corpy or something similar? Do you have a skill or do you push pens for a living. People may take offence at the influx of foreign workers, there is no need to have so many employed over here when there are so many British workers out of work, they're just lowering our wages and therefore our standard of living. They don't work any harder and are no better than British workers, they just cost less. This doesn't help the economy, just the companies that employ them, they still charge the same ammount for their work but pay the (mainly) Eastern Europeans less than the going rate so they just make bigger profits. Hope you are out of work soon, I really do. Don't think you'll believe all on benefit are bone idle & stupid then. BTW I probably start in Kent or Scotland next week

Both me and hubby have said that to put food on the table and keep a roof over our heads we would do any work available, skilled or not and that includes working at McDonalds or cleaning toilets. Thats the problem with some of the workers out there today, they are just too picky.

I got made redundant on a Friday morning and got another job by the Friday afternoon and was starting work again at 9am on the Monday morning. Its not a job I wanted to do or was "skilled" for but I had a mortgage to pay (I lived by myself at the time) and I wanted food in my belly. When I found something I wanted to do I moved on, but doing something you really don't want to do is not an option for a lot of todays workers.

The world is your oyster mate - I am 61 - I was made redundant by a fish company in Hull in 2002 after 15 years - worked through agency for 2 years - one was a sh----------t company - I have ended up earning the best money ever in my life - and because of this dont want to retire as yet even though as a women I could.

OK you want my job so therefore I should go - I know that is what you will say but get out there and take a pay cut and a change of direction because if you have a brain it is possible

I will do anything to provide for my family. I don't want to work away from home as it puts pressure on family life but having no income is a bigger pressure so that's why I will be working away again. I really need a job but can't get 1 at present, all jobs I've heard about through word of mouth have been put back until new year so it's a grim Christmas for my kids this year.
