Solid performance

So with somewhere near our full team out we didn't beat Hudds, beat Saints while we had 7 out ourselves & lose by 1 to Wigan & Warrington. Oh & I do believe we beat Catalan. Granted we got hammered by Leeds but who are the rest of the big aides?

4points from 6 over Easter .... I'd have took that from the start , won ugly but still won , poor even by silverwoods standards . Time to rest a few next week against Sheffield especially Mini and Pryce !!! Well done Hull , Radders and everyone involved . Coyh

If you think we played well tonight your dreaming,shaul,paea did well but lets be honest if we were on tv every week we'd kill the sport.The league says 4 pts in the last two games,it dosn't tell you we were fortunate that last week for saints to have even more busted than us,and most are back this week,burns,walsh etc,but its a step in the right direction.COYH.

Anyone trying to draw any conclusions whatsoever about our quality or lack of it from that game tonight clearly doesn't understand RL.

We're all still in shock and awe at the marvellous feast of rugby served up on the box tonight. Well done on winning by the way.

I don't remember saying we played well tonight, we looked tired but I guess 3 games in 8 days will do that to a team. Not playing well & still winning isn't a bad thing is it? You are right in that the table doesn't show that Burns & Walsh were missing last week but it also doesn't show that we were missing Sneyd, Ellis. Equally important players to our team.

Frankly I'll take 4 points from the 6 on offer and don't really care much how we got them. Easter is a ball-breaker even without a longish injury list. I won't be reading anything into how good or bad we're playing because tonight we were knackered from the off.

Good effort and strong defense for a majority of the game.

Attack we looked flat and some of our last tackle plays were embarrassing.

But two points on the end of a tough Easter period against a team who rested players to target our game.

Ref didn't give us much either after the first 10 minutes.

Be good to get some players back.

Pretty much this,kicks on the last play really disappointing but thought Cunningham showed up well.

Boring 22-8 win or a nail biting 20-16 loss, not sure which one I'd prefer.

Agree with all that bar the ref comment. A result we needed, but still not a good performance by any stretch of the imagination.

Also, how poor was Brown tonight? They kept looking to him to get them going & he had an awful game IMO.

Agree with above, big fan of Cunningham throughout his youth days and he is started to show what he can do in limited gametime, Radford needs to trust him more and give him more time.

I'll take that. Shambolic attack in parts but good to back up for once and maybe get a body or two back, hopefully Ellis.

Pleased for the win but what a boring game.
It was like Hull and widness were mirror images in their style of play.
Lineham was the difference tonight neither team really looked like breaking the line so his 2 interception tries were good to see.
Not sure if Clarke or Carney said even with Ellis and Sneyd back we would still not trouble the top half of the table and also wells saying how often we still look lost and misread last tackle plays and after ten weeks it should no longer be an issue.
Hard to argue with all of that but still a relief to get through this one.

Agree about Cunningham showing good signs, but I also think he throws a few forward passes out when passing short straight from dummy half. Needs to tighten that up, he won't always get away with it unless he signs for Leeds.

Sneyd ( last tackles plays) and Ellis would make a big difference.

At half time i feared widnes would come back at us on the second half but they didn't have a clue how to break us down

Peformance wise, after the gruelling easter schedule and players we had left, the result was far more important than the peformance

Hopefully by the time we play hudds in two weeks we will have a few bodies back

Good to get a win but that was a dog of a game, the sooner the outdated practice of playing twice at Easter is binned the better! Same happens every year that the Easter Monday games and the round after are slow paced turgid games. The refereeing performance was also a shambles, but not a lot new there!

Still a few better performances from some of the more unsung members of the squad such as Cunningham and Rankin. Even though we will have some players back for the Hudds game we should stick with the players who have stepped up and performed this week. For example I don't want to see Yeaman automatically recalled when Naughton, Michaels, Talanoa and Lineham looked our best 3/4 line we've had this year.

Think that is still to be proven as for the first 7 rounds it didn't seem to make much difference.
But here's hoping.

Not exactly a classic tonight but I'll take the win and the two points.

I suspect the other games this weekend will be similarly poor affairs.
