Not again, I hear they've only just managed to clear the backlog of calls dating back to last Friday evening.
Apparently they are thinking of setting up a special team dedicated solely to incoming calls from the West hull area each weekend after the sudden unexpected rise of doom & gloom in said area.

I don't blame the players for being late I blame club policy for allowing for the possibility of them being late and seemingly not taking a particularly sports science based approach to pre-match preparations.
All this burning nervous energy twaddle is just nonsense anyway. The players don't have to necessarily be at the stadium 4 hours before kick off but they should at least be in the same city. Why can't they arrive 4 hours before kick off, sit down as a team for a meal, go through any last minute videos etc then all travel to the stadium together to arrive at the same time they do now ie 2 hours before kick off.'"
Another voice of reason amongst the madness thank fo0k for that...

I was at that one, seem to recall it was called off due to a frozen pitch (January maybe?) about 40 minutes before kick-off.
We then got back in my mate's car for the journey home and the head gasket promptly blew about 200 yards down the road and we came to a spluttering halt.
He had to call out National Breakdown to get us and the car back to Hull, whereupon he discovered that his policy didn't cover him for out of town breakdowns so he ended up shelling out something like £250 to get the stricken car (and us) all the way back to sunny Hull.
He still gets reminded about it every so often. Strangely enough he still doesn't see the funny side.

They trained yesterday morning so I suspect they did final preparations then, most nutritional advisers agree that complex carbs should be eaten 3/4 hrs before strenuous exercise so I suspect the out of town players had time to eat before they set off. I agree that the nervous energy twaddle is nonsense though as how do they manage that when travelling on a together on a coach for away games.

Carb loading is mostly done the day before more than anything, eating a big carb meal just before won't help greatly, players can eat a few meals themselves whilst maximising rest and relaxation. More emphasis on fluids on game day. Yes you do burn energy and drain concentration.
Focus needs to be short sharp and intense to get up levels needed.
The coaches players and conditioners didn't just casually decide to roll up to games few hrs before, its based on experience of what works best and scientifically backed.
Our players would have been here long before Bradford but had passed turn offs and usually are here long before the opposition!

It's really not hard to grasp. It didn't matter what time the players set of given these circumstances. If the motor way gets closed and you are in a position of not being able to get to a diversion what realistically could these player do?
So posts on here are insinuating that the players affected should have known there would be a major incident..
So let's say the club insist on players being at the ground 4 hours before kick off. What happens if there had been an accident at 3pm rather than 5 pm? Would there be the same rubbish comments saying they should have set off even earlier?
I can't understand why some are looking to point the finger of blame here. It was a set of unique circumstances. End of.

You manage it a different way as best you can. A lot of teams decline staying over when possible. You get on a bus with your mate's you can detach a little from the game coming up, play cards chat etc. Your all bundled into a room, ground 4/5hrs before a game there's nothing to think about other than the game and end up coming out flat. Lot of effort goes into peaking at the right time. Carb heavy meal before strenuous exercise is 1thing, games are more endurance exercise. You will look to eat some carbs on a game day, but carb loading is more done day before so it can be converted and stored in the muscles just prior or its more readily available and burned off faster so faster carbs used more game day which is why power drinks etc are heavily used

I was just behind it when it happened, and was lucky enough to sneak past on the hard shoulder just before the road was closed. The cab unit was upright and looked undamaged, although pointing the wrong direction down the road. It was the actual tanker section that looked like it had slid across the two outside lanes, and was laid on its side with some pinkish acrid liquid seaping out, no sign of any other vehicles involved. So hopefully nobody was hurt, afterall however much inconvenience it caused supporters, this is more important.

Well it hasn't looked that way 2 weeks in a row now.
Anyway, apologies Hull FC fans for coming on in pure anger yesterday.
I set off for work at 7, set straight off for Hull when I finished at 5, then spent all night driving up and down then being severely pi$$ed off. I hope you can understand why I was so angry.
I can look at the Hull clubs pov more clearly now, but I still maintain that there are some very bad communications issues between your club and the stadium management/the fans etc.
Hope I can still make it over on Sunday. I've had to cancel work, so I hope it doesn't snow like some are saying it will

Did you not see my very first sentence? I didn't blame the players, I didn't even complain about the game having to be postponed. The situation has highlighted a possible issue with our pre-match preparation so I gave an opinion on it.

It's just the way people are nowadays. It's not exclusive to Hull fans or even sports fans - you see it all the time. There has to be [isomebody[/i to blame for every setback or incident, a target for outrage and finger-pointing. We seem to have lost the ability to realise that, sometimes, sh*t just happens.

No i think your missing the point. A Hull FC HOME game has had to be postponed because Hull FC players cannot get to the game when everyone else seems to manage it inc the Opposition team. That to me is pathetic

Of course this all relies on not being stuck between junctions as our players were. How many of us got stuck at Castleford coming back home from the GF?
