| if there is a better defensive centre in the league than yeaman still, I haven't seen him. that side of the defence has been rock solid all season
despite claims (rightly) for Houghton and taylor to be considered for MOS I feel that its sneyd who is going to command the most attention from our club come voting time
assuming the form carried on I can see the above 3 in the dream team without question along with ellis (no brainer) and even possibles for watts, shaul and minicello, but as the superleague won't want too many players in from any one club we will probably get 3 at most. no doubt wigan and leeds will get more in than us

| Quote ="Mrs Barista"I heard right then. As Brian Carney said after the game
"On the positive side for Hull KR they were really dominant..for the first 4 minutes"
'"
I was a little uneasy about the game prior to kick-off, mainly due to thinking that they must be due a win. They certainly started strongly and who knows how the evening may have panned out if Sio hadn't bombed his chance early doors.
Once we came away from their initial burst with our line intact which was then quickly followed by Watts & Houghton's tries, I was amazed by how quickly rovers energy levels became deflated. From about the seventh minute onwards there was only ever going to be one result.
I can't remember the last time we won a derby in such a comfortable manner. Any unease I may have felt at kick-off evaporated and I watched the game in one the most relaxed moods I've been in for some time.
So in control were we that I'm actually a little disappointed we didn't press home our advantage even further. We were worthy of at least a couple of further tries to fully reflect the game pattern. Reckon a final score of 48-12 wouldn't have been too amiss.
However, this is nit-picking for what was a hughly enjoyable evening's entertainment. Big raps to Sneyd, Micheals and Minichello, but all 17 played their part.
So it's 3 wins from 3 against our dear neighbours. It's now onto the business end of the season where (potentially) far greater prizes may await us. I still feel there is more to come from this team and , fingers crossed, maybe, just maybe, 2016 may see some very big dreams finally realised.
Onwards and upwards everyone. Let's be positive and enjoy the ride. We've waited long enough for these opportunities to come round once again (there have been times during the last decade when I began to wonder if they would ever come around once more!). There are possibly a dozen games still to be played out for Hull Fc in 2016. Let all of us approach these games with energy and enthusiasm. Life is about seizing the moment and grabbing the opportunity when it comes your way (expected or otherwise).
In 2016, our moment might have arrived. It might not of course , but there is only one way to find out. Come on People, let's go for it!

| Quote ="weaver93"Really really impressive performance last night...
Fonua for mine, was the best attacking centre display in a Hull shirt for many years...
Yeaman's defence was awesome..
The pack was phenomenal, Ellis was brutal, Houghton has looked a different player
in attack, just shows a difference how a quicker PTB ,gives him more time..
For mine, I prefer Michaels over Talanoa, Tuli is superb at bringing the ball out of our end,
but Michaels for mine is more reliable.
At 6, I prefer Abdull over Tuimavave, JA has better skill and creativity.....-IMO
Also IF Fonua, was played left centre alongside Pritchard - my god!!
The only constructive criticism, is we need to more direct and assertive,(ball in hand)
in attacking the opposition's try line - 10 yards out..
All in all, a great performance..'"

We could.
I think the Hull sides of recent past would've lost the game last night by bringing forward the iffy form and crumbling under the pressure of the derby, but this lot are made of stronger stuff.
We have to trust them. If they have a poor patch of form, which is inevitable throughout a season, we can't as fans let the negativity set in, but trust and support them to rectify it.
I dread to think what it'd be like on here if we'd have lost last night. The knee jerking over reactions is something we (as a collective group of fans) need to get over, and I think we gradually are doing. Years and years of false dawns will do that to people.
Currently, we're in the mix for all three trophies, what more can we ask for?

I don't even think it's knee jerking tbh. When you start to think it could be our year and a very long run of wins albeit with some slightly iffy performances then when that slight dip of form even though winning and then two losses over bottom two clubs it's natural to start to doubt.
We as fans do express our thoughts on here to reflect those doubts and our interpretation of what happened (which often varies wildly) We readily look at x situation or player or the coach to figure out why that isn't quite going as perfect as we want, that's not really knee jerking, the same as it isn't being fickle as some wrongly describe those doubts as.
When you have had years without success, years of turmoil, coach changes, ups and downs with co-tenants and a host of other stuff that is stressful for fans it's not that easy to shake off and dismiss a blip/downturn in form and think we'll easily pull through.
A loss last night could have being a disaster, could have really affected the mentality of the players and indeed the fans further, as it was we won very comfortably so that scenario for now is not apparent though I do think each win increases expectation/belief so defeats are taken harder in some respects.
As I said in a thread a couple of months back, our expectations are much much higher now, falling back in the run in after such a great season would be really hard to take for everyone.

| A loss last night would not have been a disaster. That is ridiculous.
With eight games to go we could lose two or maybe three and finish in the top two. Fishing third or fourth would be disappointing but not a disaster.

What has nationality got to do with it?
Been telling you lot for 2 seasons Sneyd is your most important and best player. See your coming round finally.
You need him and Houghton fit to be in with a chance of winning either comp. One or both out and you'll lose 10-20% of your threat.

Okay maybe disaster was too strong, a big set back then.
If we had lost losing to three of the bottom 4 clubs 3 weeks running, the latter being our local rivals would have a very negative impact on the confidence of the players. As seen, it can be that loss in confidence or conversely gain in confidence that changes a whole season, we were getting well beaten at Rovers, the comeback was as we all know got our seson going, it cemented the team and instilled confidence.
Say if we had lost, going into the Salford game needing to rest some players/deal with injuries, another banana skin and look how that affected Widnes
it's academic now but you can't just sweep it under the carpet so easily the effects defeats have especially after a superb run.
It's not about defeatism, it's not about being negative, it's about saying that I'm glad we won because it takes pressure off everyone but also understanding the effects that defeats do have.

Why debate a -ve scenario that didn't even happen ?
Its still smiley time for the mo, we're in all 3 comps and top of the league with just one game to go of the minors.
Then things will get really serious.

| Glad we bounced back and got the W as I predicted.
Glad that LR has the players in a more positive mindset than those on here who were advocating playing weakened teams and concentrating on the cup semi.
We could be on the verge of something really special here.

Charlie Muggins doing his usual poor attempt at Journalistic fishing .
The article is about Rovers famous victory over Hull FC in 1980, with the Robins romping in with a famous 10-5 victory . However the picture is of Allan Agar with little Johnny & Richard ( Richard going on to coach Hull FC ) was taken after Featherstone Rovers beat Hull FC 14–12 at Wembley in 1983 . poor by Guinness loving Charlie Muggins , or is it a deliberate mistake to goad the Hull fans ?.
Thus meaning Hull FC been beat twice at Wembley by the Rovers . First getting beat by 5 points in 1980 points then beat by 2 points in 1983 .

We're top of the league and still in the cup, raking up a story nearly 40 years old, yet again, is totemic of mindset. As Neil Hudgell once said, when it suited, the season should be about the here and now and anything else is selling the fans short. On that basis I can't see him doing an article teasing about the new coach for next year then. Unless the fans are "empty vessels".

www.hulldailymail.co.uk/hull-kr- ... story.html
1- Reality check
Over the last 10 years of Super League our average league position has been 8th place, this has been broadly matched by our support base, facilities and financial health. All things being equal we are sitting at or about our natural level for now
However, the last set of RFL benchmark reporting showed that our off field operation has just risen to around 6th in the league. Clearly we would like those two metrics to rise in tandem. Whilst we made a profit last year on the back of Wembley, we forecast a significant loss again this year, next year and the year after. The directors will continue to underwrite this, see point 9.
2- Goldfish bowl
I'll say it again, Hull is a goldfish bowl for media scrutiny, and consequently there is an artificial pressure to over perform beyond realistic expectations. Our city rivals performing well only serves to crank up those expectations. When these are not met this leads to intense criticism fuelled by deep seated disappointment at being second best.
3- The unpalatable truth
Credit where it's due, Hull FC have recruited better than anyone this year. Thursday night showed passion and enthusiasm is not enough when one side plays to its potential. I believe their success is based mostly on changes made 2/3 years ago which are now bearing fruit. It is not that long ago they were feeling the pain we are currently experiencing.
4- Over achieving
We want to over achieve, being at our natural level doesn't excite me. We are having to make changes now, for a better future. Step one was bringing in Jamie Peacock, he is only just over six months into his role and the changes he is making are not quick fixes, step two is appointing an experienced and respected coach.
5- What's gone wrong?
We aren't where we want to be this year. Why? In my opinion, 30% was an awful pre-season, 40% is on-going injuries to a large number of players, and within that group many of our key players, 20% historic poor long term recruitment, 10% bad luck.
6- What we need to do to correct this?
A more experienced coach who can extract more from the current playing group. Better value for money from recruitment. Continuing investment in youth. I was delighted to hear the City of Hull Academy got an 'Outstanding' grading yesterday by the way, we will bear the fruits of that in the medium to long term.
7- Life in the Qualifiers
Being in the "middle 8s" is a huge handicap in recruitment at all levels. It is difficult to commit both ways until we can 100% guarantee our league position. The current system favours the established elite and does nothing to spread the talent or strengthen the 12 as a collective.
8- No news isn't always no news!
I'm hearing a lot of criticism for the 'lack of positive news', we're not going to create news or spin for the sake of it, we're an honest club, we don't live on hype or false promises. We have an "in principle" deal agreed with a new head coach, much like player recruitment, when our league position is 100% confirmed our full plans for 2017 will become apparent.
9- Healthy debate welcomed
On a personal level, I am first and foremost a supporter. I am under no obligation to continue underwriting Hull KR. I am quite happy and wiling to engage and indeed welcome meaningful debate with fellow supporters. I won't though take personal abuse or have my motives questioned. Especially by the handful of empty vessels who have done nothing constructive other than throw out gratuitous insults. My message to them is that the jobs yours any time you want it, but I'm sure you won't, as you haven't the balls to do it
10- And finally
We need you more than ever! - We are now in the Super League Qualifiers again and in a fight for our Super League future. Now more than ever we need our support behind us, which again it was right to the bitter end on Thursday night. Let's turn up in numbers on Thursday against Leeds and show the doubters we're ready to fight for every last point to secure that extra home game in the 'middle 8'.
