Disagree, Moltzen may get the job next season (if Benji has his way) but not this.

If Sheens rated Moltzen at fb that highly he'd be there now with Brown at centre and Ryan on the wing.

Just think the fact that Wests are allowing him to leave early cant be overlooked, if he was such a influential player in their side they would just keep him.

They've got to pay for Blair somehow, there's been a few occasions were Nrl clubs have let older players with a year left get longer deals with sl clubs.

I'm not saying McKinnon is miles in front of Moltzen, Brown or Meany but he is in front.

Think it's fairly understandable, they know Moltzen is the future so they are prepared to let Wade leave now to ensure they keep the younger player happy and also keep Benji sweet.

They are letting him go because they have Moltzen, a bit like us letting Berrigan leave this year because we had Houghton, Would you say Berrigan shouldn't have got a club because we let him leave early? Like I said earlier the guy McKinnon will replace next season (Phelps) never even had a club at the start of the season and if we didn't sack Tansey who's to say he'd have one now.

Agree with you an extent but like shelden says they have to let some go to get the players they want in, I just think people are been to quick to judge McKinnon just based on his age and recent injuries mostly people who haven't seen him play at all which IMO is slightly unfair. On the other hand I wouldn't be offering him a three year deal either 2 years maximum.

Because McKinnon is better than Phelps. Would you replace Horne with Lockyer even if just for a year?

If Phelps was all that good why was he clubless for so long, don't get me wrong he is playing well at the moment but we'd still have Tansey if he could behave and Phelps wouldn't be at the club, we hardly had a fight for his signature did we.

how can you not be impressed with phelps he attacks well and supports very well, returns the ball fantastic, good under the high ball and hes only 26. why swap that for a 30 year old on a 3 year deal wrong direction or what??
im guessing phelps is a hell of alot cheaper aswell im with hull on most of the signings but this 1 has me puzzled

He has been getting better but I wouldnt say he attacks well plenty of the attacks against widnes broke down when it got to phelps, he's a decent player but nothing outstanding.

and i feel very comfartable with him at the back he does everything right and i think he does add alot to us with his support play and yes i agree he has made some bad decisions in attack but id sooner have that from a 26 year old with alot of promise then offer a 30 year old a 3 year contract and not no what to expect from him. injury prone is the only thing ive heard really.

Mckinnon is a decent player and no doubt he will be good in super league . Doesn't take away the fact he's a major knee operation and talk of his Hammy going so is a massive gamble on a 3yr deal

I wouldn't say he's injury prone as such and having seen a fair but of him this year he's better than phelps IMO. No I wouldn't agree as I rated tansey higher than phelps he's a good attacking full back just a shame he spoilt himself.

alot better then tansey imo tansey was to off the cuff the players didnt even no wat he was goin to do half the time but yer he did spoil himself and in my opinion were wasting alot of money on mckinnon when we have what we need

I haven't read all of this thread, cba with readin 14 pages, but at the moment I would rather stick with Phelps. He puts in a lot of effort and is improving with every week as he gets back into the swing of things. He also has age on his side and I would wager that he would be on a lower salary than MacKinnon would be.

Lockyer is the biggest name in RL, I don't think he can be compared to this full back who 99% of people have had to google to find out who exactly he is.

I thought we had learnt our lesson about signing 30+ injury prone Aussies after the Dykes debacle.
