Every time Cas made a break/half break he wasn't too far away.
Peach of a ball for Edens try yesterday too.
I was sceptical about his signing but I think he'll be a breath of fresh air. A proper running/support playing half

| Quote ="Rocknrolla69er"We need creativity with ball in hand, Reynolds isn't producing it. Put Lovodua back there. We're also lacking direction and quality kicking from 7, question is where do we find that from?
I think Hodgson has to make a call on Gale, its once again another game he's simply not done what he was brought in to do. Do we try Hookem there as its the teams biggest problem when looking for a solution.
I think we tidied up the penalties lately with some good solid home wins, unfortunately it reared its ugly head again today, hopefully Sao, and Carlos are back as I'm still not sold on Scott and Wynne who sounded very ropey today.'"
Wynne was playing well until moved to full back and from there had a nightmare.
Hodgson slow to respond to this but instead of moving Griffin to full back where he has played before and Wynne back into the centre he shuffled it around and moved McIntosh to full back.Wynne after this was mouthing off at some of his team mates so dont be surprised if he is missing for the next game.
If Carlos is not fit then i would bring Mitch back to right centre and play Lovodua at 6 which tightens up the defence and where we have seen the best of Lovodua up to now.
Jamie Shaul to full back and leave McIntosh on the wing.
Not the game to see Gale removed but in reality he needs to be replaced

Absolute great point he's playing behind a underperforming pack, although I don't think he's the ultimate answer to moving us to the next level, he'll certainly be better then reynolds

It is because he is not the player he was that you were able to sign him. Both our clubs have made the mistake of signing has beens. We seemed to have learned the futility of that approach. At least I hope we have.

| Just unacceptable inconsistency and really disappointing for the Hull club and for SL - a five way scrap at the top of the table would be great for the comp after three years of only one or two teams being in contention.
It looks like it's all there for Hull on paper, particularly if you can recruit some speed into your playmaking positions. But I would be doing a comprehensive check of the coaching market if I were Adam Pearson. Would Tony Smith be unacceptable to the Hull fans? What about Shaun Wane after the WC?

We've not appointed a head coach with head coach experience since Peter Sharp 2006-2008. Basically a job training scheme since then. Agar, Gentle, Radford, Last, Hodgson. The first four all gone on to great things, obviously,

Agree, what I like about the signing though is he l improve us as a whole, in support play, good defence and another creative element added to the team, as I think we're abit one dimensional with Connor and not much help from his halfbacks.

| So after major sulk we move on, Cats. Shaul to FB. Tuime in for Scott.Vuni would be in 17. Still not sure about Lane. yes he runs good lines etc but if not put through a gap gets easily put down. Hopefully Sao back, be tempted to start Griffin SR with Mau. Lovaduo to 6. Onwards and Upwards

| Brett seems a nice bloke - that’ll be his downfall. He’s a mate not the Boss.
He’s out of his depth and we will never ever make a GF with BH as the head coach.
We will drift to 5th or 6th and lose the first play off match.
Next season - same again bollox - dream one week and thud crud the next.
I certainly blame BH and he should move on but I increasingly blame AP for accepting this mediocrity for years and years

I agree with you about Lane.Needs to show a lot more aggression. He is also a penalty machine and was taken out the side several weeks ago because of his constant giving away six agains.Has been better lately but still gives away too many penalties.
That said i wouldnt start Griffin he is off the bench at best.
Losing Mau today was a blow and if he is leaving we have a big hole to fill in the second row.
Griffin and Lane are not in his League

| Hodgson's policy of only having a Plan A, has come home to roost... IF Connor is missing for a considerable amount of time, this will now show his coaching credentials.
Fans point that it's the Halfbacks are failing, for mine that is partly true, but overall, there is no structure ball in hand, no support runners, poor passing, poor handling...
This is the responsibility of either Hodgson or Purtill to ensure the selected players are adequately prepared, to me they look clueless...
Defensively we are superb, but to rely on one player in attack, is ridiculous.
Big few weeks coming up. IMO.

| With Connor out, id bring in Litten, Shaul is not good enough anymore and wont be here next season, lets look to the future.
I'd also move Lovodua back to 6 and bring in Balmforth for the bench.
Unfortunately I think gale has to stay 7, he was awful 2nd half, but had a decent first half and is better than Reynolds, wouldn't want 3 new pivots bringing in for the next couple of games.

If I am being honest Dave I don't think Gale is any better than Reynolds other than he offers place kicking. I think if anything yesterday showed that we are million miles away with Gale & Reynolds in the middle and keeping either beyond this season shouldn't even be a consideration. 1st half they were both ok but yet again when needed to step up they both failed to do anything. Credit to Wakey for playing the full 80mins but its another game were we did more to lose it than to win it. It looked to me as though we just tried to shut up shop after Connor went off then to hang on. The killer moment was when Gale through that awful pass in to touch past both Griffin and Swift, which Wakey capitalised on by scoring on the next set they had.
I am also wondering if Mau picked up and injury as that's the only reason I can think he was withdrawn during the 2nd half but doesn't seem to have been any mention of an injury to him?

It's tight, but think Gales offers slightly better kicking, better defence and discipline (on and off the field).
I wouldn't argue too much which one is dropped and would drop them both if Connor was fit, but wouldn't want to go with Litten, Lovodua and Hookem against Catalans away.

| Highlights make for painful viewing. Their last try really is a pathetic attempt at defending.
Their second is a dubious call as McIntosh gathers it well and finds the floor, ball is clearly pulled out.

Our first try was forward though.
We overall defended pretty well, but the attempts from Reynolds (first try) and Swift (last) are really poor

I thought the officiating by Griffiths was appalling, our first try was miles forward so how he awarded it is a mystery (though he then seemed to spend the rest of the game making up for it awarding restarts to Wakey) the one as you say Wakey scored where it looked at the time to have been stripped from McIntosh, I also think the one's both we and Wakey had disallowed for forward passes didn't look to be a lot wrong with. The final passage of play Wakeys pass was way forward leading to the drop goal by Miller.
We should have put that game to bed before halftime but we failed to be clinical enough and blew many opportunities to score in the first half which came back to bite us. I'm still not sure why in the first half after Gaskill left a kick and Fash got the ball and he passed to Lovodua why he didn't just dive to slide over the line to score rather than put the extra pass to Satae which gave Wakey time to muscle up and hold Satae up.

| You finally think they have turned a corner, the performance vs Wigan, the first half yesterday, and then they bring you back down to reality with a nothing short of awful second half to cost us the game yesterday.
Try to refrain from singling out players after defeat (at the risk of looking fickle when we win) , but we had three senior, well experienced players in Houghton, Reynolds and Gale on the pitch and not one of them had the nads to grab the game by the scruff of the neck and get us over the line. You can look to the Connor injury as a turning point in the game, but for me it was throwing the ball into touch off the back of the scrum, all whilst we were on the ropes and holding onto a two try lead. Absolutely amateurish.
It should of never even had come to golden point, but when your forwards cart you 70 meters up the pitch after 4 tackles and put you in the perfect position for the drop goal, you have to deliver. Gale didn't, and Miller did.
We need a miracle for Connor's injury to not keep him out, 6-8 weeks is a typical lay off for medial damage, I don't see where our points come from without him in the side.
