Hull dont have the option from what ive been told.

They have the option of offering him a contract and Berro accepting it!

Berro is in the 3rd year of his existing deal and the 4th year has automatically been trigged by the performance numbers written into the original deal. Hull dont have the option of cancelling his 4 year. They do have the option of offering an extension for 2012 onwards i guess.

I hoped that it was a 4th year that both sides had to agree on so that we could say no thanks. However, people on here all seem agreed that it was mainly Berro's choice and he can either stay or go as he sees fit.

If we could let Berrigan go to Gold Coast and use his salary and quota spot elsewhere in the squad, it would be fantastic business and we could be a far better squad.

The bargaining point from FC was that if he played x games we'd give him a deal. Sadly we dont have the choice to say that in the x games he was crap in y so we wont offer a deal.

Its a silly criteria to set as a trigger point for contract renewal because it just encourages players to play games when otherwise they wouldnt. How many games has Berrigan played when injury probably meant that he shouldnt?

The main thing for me is that Berrigan is clearly costing us a lot of money, whatever a marquee salary is, perhaps £140-ish, and we have never had marquee quality from him. There are many hookers in SL that offer far more than him who don't take up a quota spot or earn anywhere near what he probably does.

If an Aussie club wants him, I would jump at the opportunity of "off-loading" him and it is clear to me that we could use his salary and quota spot to much much better use.

180k Was the figure the Aus press were suggesting at the time he signed. Can't see it being that high though as we refused to go 200k for monoaghan with our board stating that as "silly money". We missed out on Flannery and Puletua for having rigid valuations.

Whatever the figure is, I would like to see us spend it elsewhere in our squad.
