2005, not sure what type game you're expecting if you think England-NZ isn't a 'decent game'? its the 2nd biggest fixture possible after England-Australia.
I didn't think England playing Australia in Cardiff was a good idea when it was announced, but to be fair to the RFL it has sold well and many sections are sold out.

Yeh of course, that's your opinion on the rugby, fair enough, I was just curious as to your 'slap in the face for the city' comment really. I think Hull has a good set of games there, more than any other city & including an England game.
With NZ not in England's group & the England v Australia game being used as one of the openers at Cardiff, which I'm sure will attract over 25k, which games do you think Hull should've got? Or would you want more than three games?
There's an argument for one of the Quarter Finals maybe, instead of the Fiji game.
Generally, I think Hull's done alright out of it. 3 games involving 5 of the top 8 international teams.

PNG vs France would be the equivalent of Argentina vs Italy (based on World rankings ).

the last two games we have played NZ at the KC, the kiwis have been very poor!
looking at the quarter final locations, the rfl have got games at Wrexham! warrington and wigan, the closest to us being leeds!
hull is the biggest city for rugby league supporters and imo we got short changed when it comes to ithe forthcoming world cup!

we were given 3 games because we were outbid for a QF game! probably would've got more in ticket sales for the QF than the money paid to the rfl to host it!

The quarter-final is in Wrexham as it's likely to involve Wales. The Wales games are being playing in Wales funnily enough, that's why it's there.
NZ will likely play in the game at Headingley. NZ also play their final group game there the week before - these are the only [itwo[/i games being played in Leeds, a big RL city.
The game at Warrington, will involve France/PNG/Samoa vs Fiji (I expect).
England most likely at Wigan, another big RL town (the only game there), playing vs PNG/Samoa or France.
IMO, England vs Fiji (& the big names they'll have) will be a better game than the prospective England quarter final. Australia & NZ games will likely be walkovers. The Warrington game should be a cracker, although would this be a big enough game for the KC?

Wrexham has been picked on purpose at is very likely Wales will be in that Quarter final.
Getting a quarter final is a 'riskier' fixture anyway, for example Wigan could host an England quarter final in front of a big crowd if England finish 2nd in the group, or if they win the group it would be the less attractive Australia-France. At least by having a group game we are guaranteed an England tie.

I wasn't too fussed about the teams who will be playing, I was criticising the locations! the rfl have definatley looked after the north west with them games!

Cities didn't bid on which games they'd get! The bid was to be a host city, not specifically for a QF (no bids were specific) - I've no idea where you got this from, I think you've made it up. No idea what your 2nd sentence means.
Hull got three games because it's a city that loves it RL. More games than any other city, three games on your doorstep - you can embrace it & enjoy it, or not. Whinging about it doesn't really do much good.

| I don't for the life of me see why people would not want to help showcase the game we all love. If all three games are not attended well the RFL will ave being right to not have the big games here.

after the last world cup flop in 2005 lessons should've been learned, play the games where the rl fans are, not where most cant get to due to cost or work

We have three games and people are on about not attending them. Why should the RFL give us more games ?
Why do RL supporters look for negatives all the time, at £15 for two games they is no reason why CP can't be sold out.

2000 WC, have a look at the fixtures & compare before making statements like that. They cocked-up big time, I agree. 6 games in France, games in Watford, Gloucester, Reading etc. There are a lot more games in RL heartlands this time around than 2000, way more.
This time there's been an actual bidding process too, there wasn't one in 2000. Everywhere that has a game this time round wants it and has backing from that town/city. Read up on Bristol's bid, it's pretty impressive.
Incidentally, only 3,000 turned up at the Boulevard to see Australia play in 2000. Even the heartlands were badly attended that year.

Indeed, the only games that can be considered truly outside of the heartlands this time is USA-Cook Islands at Bristol and Australia-Ireland in Limerick, and I doubt either game would have got a big crowd in the heartlands anyway.

I'm not going to all the games in Hull, just the England vs Fiji game. I live in Leeds, so I've tickets for the two games at Headingley, England Ireland at Huddersfield, Italy Tonga at the Shay. Going to the final too and hopefully the double-header at Wembley (not got tickets yet).
I'm not trying to present myself as 'Mr RL Fan' & do you down. I'm just well up for it, you're not, fair enough people are different. There just seems to be a lot of unwarranted negativity about it.

Yeh, they're pretty much the only two. Bristol put together an impressive consortium (see here: www.bristol.gov.uk/page/leisure- ... ch-bristol) and with a decent amateur game, the All Golds close by and I think Leeds Rhinos have an academy down there too.
Thomond Park in Limerick is a cracking venue.Limerick wanted it: www.limerick.ie/living/whatsnew/ ... erick.html
Even the games in Wales & France have been pinpointed in RL heartlands (relative to their countries).

| I don't understand why any RL fans wouldn't be excited about PNG vs France, it should be a cracking game. I expect a lot of people on here will complain or be apathetic as usual and then realize what's actually happening once the tournament starts.
The idea that Hull have somehow been 'shafted' despite being given three strong games is ridiculous BTW, if anyone has been shafted it's South Yorkshire who don't have a single game despite two pro clubs in the region.

You can't really argue about the semi's being held at Wembley, surely?
As I said a couple of pages ago, Hull could've got a quarter final instead of the Fiji game, maybe. I can see why those venues have been chosen for the likely match-ups though.
I think you're being a little picky really. You've got three decent games on your doorstep, I don't think it matters that much that one isn't a QF. The opening games aside, England Fiji is probably the biggest group game going, that's why it's at Hull.

| When the rfl promise the city a quarter final then goes back on it, shafted is quite appropiate, they probably gave us a 3rd group game as small conselation
As for the south yorkshire region im suprised ton, keepmoat i would have gone too
