Probably not on everyone's list, but I love Lucky Star (or whatever its called now)on Holderness Road.

Its not the classiest of places, but some o the dishes are first rate.

Yin Ji Bar on Charles St opposite Clarence is amazing.

Massive portions and the local Chinese community eat there, thats always a good sign!

China Red in Dunswell as already suggested, just to say you could pre sample thier food before going as they do a collection only take away service, mmmmmm crrrriiiiispy duck!

China Red for a proper sit down job. Although as others have said it can be a bit much when they start to hover.

They do not do the sittings anymore. You can book to eat at your leisure. Makes it far more enjoyable. Even better when you live in Dunswell.

Is the right answer. Basic but spotless surroundings and the food... An understanding of the Chinese language is necessary to read the Specials board, though - like you said, a good sign. Not pricey, either.

China Red is ordinary, starters are decent but all the mains taste the same. Recently had a really good meal at Lee Garden in Beverley, the Chicken and sweetcorn soup was excellent, followed by a few drinks in the many pubs in easy walking distance.

Think that I had first hand initial input mate. Those pesky chinese!

China Red was my favourite until I did some work at the school next to it during the summer. There hygiene procedures are appalling

China Red is pretty good, as is Wok Ever but Hull kingston Convicts is right about the one opposite the Clarence, it is cracking; I thought it was my own little secret! It's pretty basic inside though but great value. They do a brisk lunch trade too.
