I think we need pictures to compare. This is my toaster, swapped from work for my old one when the one at work was condemned:

Works perfectly well, despite the electrician cutting it's plug off (just before MY lunch hour, of course

) although occasionally you have to turn the bread around to ensure even coverage of toastiness.

I love it 'cos it's a clockworky type thing with manual lever for up and down movement of the toast. I like basic mechanical things.

How about the stuff we buy but use once then throw it back in a cuboard, ive stacks of things ive just binned to many to mention.

My theory on the usefullness of household appliances is that they are in inverse proportion to the number you see at car boot sales. Go to any car boot and you'll find: step machines, donut makers, chocolate fountains and George Formby Grills (they're similar to a George Foreman Grill but when the steak is cooked, you open the lid and it says "turned out nice again an't it?"icon_wink.gif

Always wondered who would buy these apart from people who lived in bungalows. Not like steps are hard to find.
