Well neither of us know so there is every chance.
They will back Agar, they have invested in him and will give him as much time as they can.

Lose the next 2 and he is gone IMO. Unless something happens that the board can use as an excuse.

We won't lose Friday, but it's irrelevant as agar is going nowhere. They stuck with him through 2008 and 2009 then gave him a contract extension on the back of a bad patch last season. I think he could finish bottom 4 and still be here at the end of the season.
Besides, we already have an injury crisis for him to hide behind

Id almost call that decision sickening, we were playing very poorly at the time swell, if Agar does lose his job during this season I think other people envolved in that decision should lose there jobs also.

| Quote ="Father Ted"From an outsider looking in from Wigan. There are some matters very similar between our two clubs and the periods of decline followed by the decisions taken to turn things around.
We won the CCup in 2002 and were beaten Grand Finalists in 2003. By 2006 we were bottom of the league.
You won the CCup 2005 and beaten Grand Finalists 2006. You haven't won a game and but for clubs going into admin you'd be bottom of the league.
In 2006 Dave Whelan owned the club and Mo Lindsay was Chairman.
They sacked Millward and replaced him with Brian Noble. Noble in turn brought in Fielden and Dobson, Wigan then won 10 out of the last 12 games to finish seventh.
Following a CCup semi defeat Mo said he was resigning therefore Whelan put the club up for sale. It was bought by Ian Lenagan.
After two season with Noble when the team had flatlined as a semi final team. Losing CCup semis and 3 final eliminators Lenagan didn't renew Noble's contract and appointed Michael Mcguire for 2010.
From IL's purchase of the club he emphasised his desire to keep Wigan's younger players, improve their levels if fitness and skills so they would have a better chance of making the first team. He said he'd bought the club to win trophies which he felt it is what Wigan should always be competeing for.
It does appear that you need a first team coach who has the capability to bring in his own fitness and skills coaches. You need to improve your many, many younger players who make it to the first team then don't improve. (The Horne brothers, Hall, Washb'k, Wheeldon, Yeaman, etc)
When it is obvious that you have turned things around then IMO you need perhaps new owners but most certainly a new BOD.
This current BOD have sat and watched your decline and can't bring anything new to the club. It is they who need replacing as much as if not more than your coaching staff.
If it can be turned around at Wigan it can be at Hull. Just as at Wigan though you need new people at the top of the club both at executive and coaching levels.
Hull FC are a great club with great fans and fantastic facilities.
You should be competing at the top not where you are now.
British Rugby League needs a strong Hull FC.
Best of Luck!'"
Great post. Lets hope it happens. All the best.

| Reading some of the opinions in today's HDM, the thing I don't understand is those who seem to think the club won't sack Agar as it would be admitting they were wrong. Surely it's still better to admit you're wrong and rectify things than to pretend otherwise as you're going down the pan? If they got rid I don't see how there can possibly be any egg on face, it would be done with and move on. It's not like there has ever been any ridiculous crowing about Agar's abilities. They thought he was potentially the man for the job so gave him a chance, fair play. Things not panning out as you would want/hope is a fact of life from time to time, nobody's immune to that.

On the other hand, it would probably be the same people making both decisions, so why should they lose their jobs for making a mistake (even then, only in some people's eyes) they have then rectified?

| Quote ="carl_spackler"On the other hand, it would probably be the same people making both decisions, so why should they lose their jobs for making a mistake (even then, only in some people's eyes) they have then rectified?'"
The mistake was appointing Agar, Hull could have waited to see how things panned out nearer the end of 2010, we did improve but still lacked quality in our performances, had a very poor points scored column, lost every game that mattered and his use of interchanges was as crazy as it is now, it was clear to see that despite an improved league position due to better players he wasn't the man long term.
With his contract due to expire, we could have been free to say thanks Rich but we have not performed despite your best efforts, maybe offer him an alternative coaching role. We then could have appointed a new man, possibly Noble, let him have a say in our recruitment, and more importantly have a full pre season with the squad, not only would the squad be better prepared on the field, but I'd guess season ticket sales would have been up and there would have been a general feel good factor around the club with lots of optimism, not the crisis we are in now with attendances dropping and possibly losing fans for good.
That would have been rectifying the mistake, as it stands the clubs support has dropped with rifts between supporters, we are looking more like wooden spoon contenders then title challengers and it looks like we will have to pay Agar off mid season, appoint a new coach mid season and supporters and revenue, all because someone took a totally reckless decision to extend Agars contract after the Quins game, on the basis that he was linked with the England job alone, as big a blunder as Plummer with the Cookie situation in my opinion.

"McNamara was himself in a similar position last season as a poor run of form had Bradford Bulls fans questioning his position as head coach at Odsal.
The Bulls went on to lose 11 games in a row, although McNamara departed to take up his new post as England head coach before the conclusion of that run."
Sounds like our man.

Scraping the barrel getting a 'backing up the manager' quote from someone who experienced the exact same thing and only getting the England job saved him from getting the boot.

Yer but they tried having a proper coach (Tony Smith) and we still got embarrassed. I think the RFL just gave up even trying to compete with Aus and NZ after that, and instead see the next ten years as a kind of 'development exercise'. The best two British coaches are Noble by a country mile and then Kear, but they've both done the job and you want someone younger to fit the 'development' mould anyway. So once you're committed to having a British coach, you're stuck scraping the barrell with the likes of Agar and Macca. Either way it doesn't really matter because nobody expects them to achieve much in the way of results anyway.

I know, I actually think it's a bit of a cheek him even commenting.

As a player he was good and that is recognised by Hull fans but not what I would call legend status as such, however as a coach he has still yet to prove himself, that is what people are commenting on his coaching ability not what he did as player for Hull IMO.

My thoughts exactly.
Agar could improve his credibility by stating that he doesn't need backing by the likes of him. He won't of course, and no doubt thinks that macca is a good coach.
