Sneyd is the one I thought should have took us on more last night. When he did he threatened us but he seemed content to pass the ball most of the time.

He tried a cross field kick in your own twenty near the end. It was a risky play in that area of the field but I thought he could have been a bit more inventive earlier on and try things like that around half way. He's a flair player and shackling him won't do him any good.

He was left out because Radford would rather take the safe (read negative) option. Hence he picks dross like Yeaman who is a reasonable tackler but couldn't beat an egg let alone a defender.

Crooks had things to work on in defence and Radford didn't want to make the effort or take the chance. As long as we are solid defensively it doesn't matter that we are completely toothless in attack.

Someone will now quote me saying that Crooks was frozen out because he had a poor attitude to training etc. But that's rubbish.

Yeaman didn't repay Radford's defensive faith in him last night. Literally run over twice by Wigan. Don't normally feel comfortable slating individuals but I am worried he's becoming a liability.

He's given us a lot of good service, but even at his best he was never very talented. He always gave 100% effort and scored a lot of tries off good service by Cooke. These days the effort is still there but he hasn't been effective for years and has lost a lot of pace.

Is Logan ready to be playing week in week out yet? Perhaps not, but it didn't harm the likes of Percival and Swift at Saints.

i cannot understand Radford going on about the defence, we bombed two high balls, they should have scored at least two more tries in the first 20 minutes, we were lucky still to be in it, it was only because they were inept, the worst Wigan side I have ever seen. There were no positives to take from that performance.
FWIW we need pace in the centres, we need to stop coming back on the inside, we need to let sneyd play with freedom, westerman needs to re discover some form, and we need to have full team playing with the passion of houghton and talanoa. Rant over, bring on catalan.

Took a friend to the game last night over from spain, was in the bulls squad in the 90's knows his rugby, hadn't been to a live game in 15 years. He couldn't believe how one dimensional the game had become, where is the flair, where is the skill, think he left quite depressed about what RL has turned into.

Listening to game it sounded like we didn't have any go forward. Looking at the stats it's worse than I realised. Wigan made 500 metres more than us.

Gareth Ellis was the only one who's stats were even close to being acceptable. Chris Green carried it strongly but his workrate was awful, 4 carries. How long was he on the field? Joe Westerman, 10 carries, 36 metres, I'd make more yards than that!

Them stats are bordering on criminal from certain individuals

What was the share of possession ? Sounded like we got very little ball.

We went with a plan, shed loads of forwards, soak everything up and nick it late on. Nearly worked as well.

People moaning about Wigan bombing chances, well i'd prefer to say we forced the errors tbh. Also, we had a try disallowed too, which was flat at worst.

Fact of the matter is that if Houghton hadn't been a complete idiot going on the blind side we'd have got at least a draw.

It has to underpin every performance this season if we're to steer clear of trouble. That's why the Salford defeat was the most disappointing to me - poor defence cost us that game.

I dread to think where we'd be without Ellis over the last couple of years, while he is no doubt getting a massive salary you can't fault his effort playing injured when he could quite easily think 'I'm not going to win a trophy anyway I'll just collect my cash'

The possession played a big part admittedly. As has already been stated it was 57-43. But the percentage of total yards made was 60-40. That means Wigan made 150 metres more than us that can't be put down to possession. That's not good enough when we've stacked the bench with forwards.

That was a little bit Phil Clarke'esque. But you get my point.

For all those forwards we had zero impact down the middle.

The defence did save us, but it was scrambled rather than robust. Wigan were begging on the wings but we failed to capitalise on that and spread the ball wide, even when Charnley was lame and helpless. The plan may have been to pass the ball inside for the pack to take up but the pack wasn't up to it. And the one time we did pass outside instead of inside was our last chance to draw or win a game that should have been won long before then.

If it wasnt for bowen and the other wigan player messing Sneyds kick we would never have scored till the game was ovet and wigan would probably have scored more and not panicked

Time for Jack Logan to be given a chance in the centre, Radford will never drop Yeaman, he must be able to see how poor he is these days.

Poor strike rate these days. Since the start of 2013 I make it 18 tries in 57 games, just 14 tries in the Super League.

He is not ready yet for regular first team football but no harm in playing him in some matches.

Just don't get Radford putting Ben Crooks in the untenable position he did.Young players will always make mistakes like Lancaster did last night but to let Yeaman get away with his recent performances is criminal.

Logan, May no be quite ready, he offers far more than Yeaman, saw that against leeds last year.

What's happened to Cunningham, can't have Houghton doing 80, he gets tired with all the work he does and makes mistakes like last night.

Agree with you but he needs to play selected games so he doesn't suffer like Ben Crooks did under Radford

I agree, put him in the team. The likes of Horne, Cooke and (coincidently!) Yeaman weren't necessarily ready for the first team when they were thrown in at the deep end back in the day. I'd rather see promising youngsters making mistakes than the same old tired faces plodding along.

He wasn't right impressed was he? Doubt we'll get him to another game when he's next over.
