Judging by pearson's statement then I'd have said that the club has performed poorly in pretty much every area but profitability, which it hasn't done that well in considering the chronic underinvestment. Seems the reason we've been posting profits is because we've been penny pinching everywhere to the detriment of the club as a whole. The more this man speaks, the more I admire him. His statement clearly shows he is angry and having a dig at the way the club has been run in the past due to lack of investment by the previous board (or board member), just what have these people been doing? IIRC it was something of a surprise at the time. Lends weight to the view that he basically looked after marketing/admin and all the major decisions were made over his head.

All of this defence for rule gives me a sense of de ja vu when people were defending first agar and then the club owners pre pearson's take over

I don't think there is a defence of Rule, just an acceptance that AP is nobody's fool, and if he feels Rule is the right person for the job then we see no reason to doubt him thus far.

I don't like JR, he's a self-important Hymers type with an ego to match his daft hair style, but I don't think he's doing a bad job at FC.

Exactly the point i was trying to make, The CE is responsible for all areas of a business and it is quite clear we have failed in many areas due to penny pinching and lack of investment. Saying we have posted a profit so JR is doing a good job is far too simplistic.

People like to fence sit until something happens then they can say i told you so, when JR gets his marching orders everyone will be on here listing his short comings.
The truth is as CE he has presided over a slow and steady decline on the field, poor recruitment, falling gates and a total demoralisation of the fans. The only positive he can claim is posting small profits and lining KH's pockets.

Recruitment has not been poor, certainly not for the past two years. The problem was the coach's inability to get the best out of the players.

I'm not defending him either, just suggesting the possibility that he may not have done anything that requires defending. It's entirely plausible that the shareholders were calling all the shots, and he was simply implementing their plans. Of course, you're right that he could have walked away, but would you walk away from a well paid job if you couldn't find anything equivalent?

It's certainly time for the supporter base to unite behind the club now. I've not stopped going but know plenty that have and I don't knock them for it.

With an ambitious new owner and a stronger squad together with reduced prices hopefully the missing supporters will be back and we'll see a period of success.
