all the sucessful clubs have hard working backs that get involved in each six, ours work very hard indeed and sharp especially for a light fella , very brave lad indeed

The most successful side's have back three's who have quality all round games (defence/offence)....just because you work hard does not guarantee you a game with Wigan

Of course you have quality but you also need a work ethic. Wingers helping out on plays 1 & 2 is vital to the forwards as is the fullback returning it well from kicks. The Dragons ooze class, especially Morris on the wing but he also works really hard doing the tough stuff.

The back three (oops Tommy) are vital cogs for teams these days.

he spills the odd ball like all players at all clubs do but generally he is safe as anyone with ball in hand so dont see the point you make here??

the point I am making is that we often give up the ball when we take the wrong options in our own 20, to my mind the forward should be getting us to the half way line, it's just an opinion.

No reason not to. He hardly ever drops the ball and often makes good yards, then Briscoe takes a run and the forwards have had a breather and not hard to come back as far hopefully.

I know what you mean but that is often not possible from a long kick down field. It has to be the back three on the first/second tackle usually.

But that is not practical from kick returns, which is normally the only time that Sharp does take it in. Forwards cant rush back, after doing the tackles in the defensive set, to get to a position where the can run on to the ball at pace - not possible.

For my rugby team, every kick return (unless we make a break from the initial return) is a 'Rabbit' set - which is, winger, centre full back from one side take scoots alternate ways. Then when the forwards have had their breather they are back in a position to contribute to the set.

With respect, your team aren't earning £80k a season each. It's frustrating watching our lot meander back into position and hardly ever rushing to form a scrum.

So you expect a forward to turn around & back track 40-50m within a few seconds, get set & stand deep enough to take it up with pace on the 1st

I don't know of many forwards who could actually physically do that never mind actually calculating its effectiveness comparatively to a decent winger taking it up with much more pace & who frankly has a way better chance of breaking the line than a prop blowing out his arris after struggling back especially in the last 1/4 of a game.
Have you tried yourself, I know I have in the dim & distant past and it's a blessed relief the FB & wingers are there to do that and rightly so.

I think making nearly as many metres as an international in the same amount of games does, regardless of how many carries it takes.

Can be perceived as whatever people want to perceive him as, I am confident he will develop into an even better player, especially outside Gleeson.

Let's hope so. At 24 he should be planning his retirement

Hopefully Gleeson can give him tips on how to age gracefully too
