I think such a climb to fame can make, or ruin many young players.
I think the other saving grace, is the new culture of players we have at the club. They will be a good influence for him, and help to keep his feet on the ground.

I may be old fashioned but I prefer wingers to score tries rather than make metres.

Didn't have to do a great deal for either of them though, did he. Finished his second one well though. I'm not disputing he's an excellent young player, but I wouldn't say he was any better than Fox just yet.

Yeah but if a winger made loads of metres and passed inside loads of times for his centre to score, wouldn't that make him at least as valuable as a winger getting the odd try.

IMO A winger is in the team primarily to score tries not to make loads of metres. Obviously if he sets other players up now and again great but his main role is to score himself.

Give him benefit of the doubt till Friday.

Fair point mate, just meant a lot of wingers differ in style. E.g. some say Offiah is the best winger ever, but from what I saw he was just a finisher and couldn't really pass or tackle (which is why I still rate Robinson above Offiah as an all-round winger).

Neither winger got much service, although the ball did go right a little more than it went left. Both came inside to get more ball. Briscoe was offered two chances to score and took both, with the second needing some scoring. Fox had one decent scoring chance and dropped the ball over the line.

Briscoe was also better in defence, and made fewer errors during the game.

It may be too early to say that Briscoe would be the better player over the course of a season, but ATM he's in far better form than Fox.

And with regards to those comparing their meter making etc, I've lost count of the number of times Tom draws in 2/3 players running from dummy half and still manages to push on and get away offloads - he's as strong a an ox.
