He's 24.....could be playing for us for the next 10 years.

At a time when good young British players (esp forwards) are at a premium, this could turn out to be a cracking signing.

He was very good before his injury and anyone who thinks he'll be keeping our young forwards from making the step up next year are wrong. If they are good enough, they'll come through.

Started a thread on the Wigan board, most seem uphappy that he is leaving.

I remember when we signed Jamie Thackray in 2005, who was injuted loads before we signed him and people on here where going mad about his signing went on to play over 30 games, have an outstabding year and help us win the cup.

I'd still expect us to promote Bowden giving us 6 props in the first team squad is lynch signs.

As a Wigan supporter I am sad to see him go. Hes a 100%er but perhaps not in our top 4 props. With Coley leaving I assume we will be recruiting (maybe that lump from Hull). O'Carroll is a good addition for Hull but maybe a 3 year deal for a player who has not really played in 18 months is a risk. Good luck Freddie. Top bloke too!

I've reneged on my original scepticism on this signing. I assume he's not on big bucks (maybe even a contract akin to Dowes') so it could well be a shrewd bit of business.

Did he debut under Brian Noble? with talk of Lynch coming too could these be Noble signings?

I also think the lack of comment from O'Carrol on Agar seems odd.

Agree on all of that and noticed the Agar bit when I read the website, but maybe the club have decided that was a load of horse anyway, so dropped it.

I fully expect the doom merchants to be appearing on Boots n All with their in-depth knowledge of every player in SL. They seem to know a lot about a kid who's not played for a while and don't like him. How about waiting till he pulls on the shirt, or have they seen enough watching every game he's played already?

If we assume he's not on a big deal and view his signing in that context then it may be a risk worth taking.
