| Quote ="hullbg"Thought he was his usual awful self last night. We tried to speed up the ptb but he let them lay on constantly. Offsides were a thing of the past and i was baffled by a few of his decisions.
=#BF00001, Hame penalised - Was it for backchat???2, The move where we looked like going in touch and we worked the ball back inside for the ref to give Hudds a penalty
Those were just a couple of the strange ones for me.'"
Hame was penalised for taking a man out who did not have the ball. As mentioned on radio Humberside last night as i was on the way home from the game.
Also radio Humberside ( not gollum ) the other one said that Hull fans could hardly complain about the ref as ALL the big decisions went there way.
The stranger decisions was Hall bouncing the ball down and claiming a try and then Alibert giving a drop out when no Giants player touched it.
Cannot comment on the knock on which led to Hodgsons no try, but apparently the radio commentary said the ball came free in a tackle. The Brown no try was also adjudged to be harsh as the ball went forward after hitting a Hull player and should have been play on
I cannot comment on offside as behind the sticks it is hard to tell.
HOWEVER your markers were rarely square at the PTB especially FitzGibbon. If you start getting penalised for this regularly i think you will find Hame and O,'Meleys defence will come under a lot of scrutiny. It was where our most success came from yesterday. Both teams play to the rules and the ref's interpretation they just use different techniques to gain an advantage.
there appears to be a lot of bandwagon jumping in RL with every team seeing what their opponents do and not looking at where they bend the rules. they then selectively blame the ref
If the ref had blown for every infringement you would all be on here slagging him off for giving 70 penalties.

Agree about Hall.
As for our square markers...they may have been but at least we arent a niggly team....if you play Rugby you are a good team but you push the rules to the limit and deserve all you get.

| Good post DG, sometimes at the game you don't catch everything because there is so much going on. I don't expect a ref to blow for everything and the teams need to adjust to a ref.
After the first 10 minutes last night it was clear the ref was going to allow a fair amount of time for laying on in the tackle.

| That French idiot is probably the worst ref that I have ever seen. Luckily he seemed to even himself up by the end of the game but he isn't fit for purpose.

| If that's a Super League standard ref I'll stand naked at caravanpark in mid winter. It's frustrating for the fans of both sides to watch. Incompetence personified.

Same here. Every game he officiates he is shocking - simply not up to SL standard and TBH wasn't much better in the few NL games I saw him take.
Shows how desperate we are for refs when Halibut is still employed.

He simply shouldn't be still employed by the SL. He didn't effect the result last night but he certainly could have done so with his total incompetence. He just doesn't seem to have basic ability to referee the game, he has no presence on the field of play and both sides seem to take advantage of him more than they should be able to.

first point - you seem to be labouring under the misapprehension that GWL knows wtf he is talking about. The clear signal from Mr Haddock was that Hame was penalised for talking.
second point - you seem to be labouring under the misapprehension that GML is fair-minded when talking about Hull FC.
Huddersfield are known for thier messing about at the ptb by all other clubs and coaches. We sat and watched the opening minutes and Hudds did nothing to dispel that belief. Unbelievably, the first penalty for "laying-on" was against Hull. I don't think I had counted to two before his whistle went. Unbe-fooking-lievable.

Refs signal indicated it was for back chat actually.
The ref was simply awful, both teams clearly suffered because of it.

Agree both teams suffered. Cant help thinking though that a quicker ptb would have suited us more. The laying on and the creeping into the 10 metres was laughable at times.

The ref signalled backchat for the penalty against Hame.
Radio "Roverside" got it wrong.

| I saw the backchat signal from Halibut just going on what Humberside said as a Hull fan phoned in and they said no it was for an off the ball incident . Either way you got all the big decisions and the two points which is all that counts now.

and if the ref stopped your cynical slowing down of the ptb we may have put a further 20 points on you. Swings and roundabouts.

It was the decision that we didn't get that matters though. Hudds were consistantly off side, which meant we had no room to play.
To be fair, Hudds didn't get what I would consider some pretty clear forward pass decisions as well.
Frankly, it was just a poor poor performance by the officials, for which both teams suffered more or less equally. If it had been a TV game with a better ref, I think it would have been a far far better game.

| There arent many decent refs out there. Reading the Leeds message board they were not happy with a ref called Childs, he seemed to be inconsistent when giving decisions. Thaler on sat night missed a lot of things especially with the Carvell incident and how could they miss Morely's elbow on Sherwin.

Neither the ref nor the TJ saw it, apparently.
I'm sure the video review panel will refer it to the disciplinary in any case.
