What I don't fully get here is, that it has been reported that Horney has been pencilled in as next year’s full back, so why isn't he playing there now? Instead we are using another club's asset at the expense of our own gaining more game time in a position he is expected to make his own!! Surely the benefit to us as team would be to have Horne playing as many minutes as he can there.

I agree. The longer it goes on, the more doubts creep in that Horne will be our fullback next year after all. If Horne doesn't move to fullback once Heremaia has a few games under his belt it will be very questionable IMO.

I'd have thought if Horne was going to be playing there next year then he would have moved there by now. I agree with what the above posts say about Horne been a good choice to spell with Heremaia, but we could always give Nicklas a shot at that?

Who would play at 6 if Horne played at FB now? Would muck up other players' positions. Glad Russell is staying, he's definatley one for the future.

I have a feeling he is in the bag for next season , I thought it when we originally got him on loan. He is different to Charnley in respect that he has to displace Tompkins and I can not seeing him getting moved to 6.

The whole scenario has a Gareth Raynor/Gareth Carvell/Ewan Dowes feeling about it . Pearson said at the begining of the season that we will not bring on other team youngsters , which I feel only re enforces my hunch.

Pretty sure you have that wrong, one fixture / one week (whichever is sooner) is standard I think, i.e. if we had a game on Friday, they couldn't recall him on Wednesday by giving notice on Tuesday, but they could on Saturday.



I would imagine there is a clause in the agreement preventing him from playing against his own club anyway.

Just going on what James Smailes said on Twitter mate. I would imagine they will have that clause but if not wouldn't be surprised if they took him back for this game. Even if they didn't play him, just so that we can't, wouldn't blame them either.

Maybe. I would love it if we snapped up Russell, don't think we have a cat in hells chance of that though. Horney will have enough time in the off-season to practice at full back I think, while we have the resources I think we should use them the best we can.

While Russell is a good prospect he still has a lot to learn, he's Done a job for us but still think Horne is the way for us.

Still think Wigan will get rid eventually.

It's ok saying playing Horne at fullback but we don't have a 6. Westerman or Whiting could play there but it weakens us in the pack. I see Horne as a back up player next year as I see us signing a 1 and 6.

Yea I'm surprised we had him extended. I thought we would sign a 6 and have Horne as the new full back. Either way it would be nice to get someone at 1 for next year.

Wigan allowed Joe Mellor to play against us last night and allowed Steffan Marsh to play against us in the Widnes game earlier in the year (and he ripped us apart) so I can't see it tbh unless there's a real need.
