Being a local boy and passionate will only get you so far, experience as an head-coach and knowledge is needed. Lee Radford is not the answer for me. But as has been said, there are few realistic options out there.

he has an excellent rugby brain if he gets the squad balance right we will progress. paul anderson an brian mac do ok theyve all learnt from good coaches at the bulls. but weve got to get the spine of the team right 1,6,7,9,13 if not we will never learn.

Why not?

Because if the first-team squad look at him as a 'mate' and not their head coach then he will command zero respect in the dressing-room. He has to maintain the aloofness needed for his players to listen to him.

Because there needs to be some distance between the coach and the players and because he must be a figure of authority not "one of the lads" and because he cannot condemn behaviour which he himself was recently participating in.

Exactly. If you think the head coach of a professional sports club should be leading the party then I don't know what to say.

This is 2013 not 1983. Pride and passion are not enough. Success only comes from total professionalism in all aspects. Any coach who wants to go out boozing with his mates or regards the players as his mates should be coaching a pub team.

There needs to be a partition between radford being a player and radford being a head coach.

Theres been no gap. Ideally he would be an assistant away from the club for 2/3 seasons.
