I know what you mean however Briscoe has done ok from the service of yeaman hasnt he , even so far this season and i am sure his inclusion in the England squad ongoing is testiment to his abilities however Turner is clearly a totally different style of centre I agree

| Yes terrible service, this is Briscoe's record
Season P Try Pts
2008 17 6 24
2009 13 8 32
2010 27 16 64
2011 31 21 84
2012 11 8 32
Total: 99 59 236
One try every two games, not bad to say Yemo doesn't pass.

The stats aren't very helpful here though, as they don't tell you how the tries were scored. A better indicator might be Yeaman's try assist numbers if they're available.
And it's not that Yeaman doesn't pass at all, it's just that he misses opportunities that you'd expect a centre to take.

Briscoe has benefited more from Manu being on his side of the pitch IMO.
Yeaman is not an international standard centre. His inclusion in the squad says more about the quality of available English centres than it does about him. He's generally solid in defence and can score some good tries, but he lacks the all-round game IMO.

The stats are difficult as Yeamo often backs himself and credit to him he know how to find the line,
2011 Yeamo (7 try assists)

2012 Turner (1 try assist)

I agree with you he is not an all round centre however there are few Lyons around in either SL or NRL but Yeaman is solid in both directions and not usually prone to brain farts hence why he and Briscoe are generally thought of as THE wing centre partnership in SL & internationally for England but like you say its all about opinion
i like the guy and would rather have him then be against him

Or anyone else, I would imagine. They're a decent partnership (though arguably not as good as Turner/Briscoe would be), but to say they're 'THE centre/wing partnership in SL and internationally' is just crazy.

| I'd say that Carmont/Richards might have something to say about Yeaman/Briscoe being THE centre/wing partnership in SL. A lot of the time Yeaman and Briscoe are just 2 good players who play in the same area of the pitch, IMO, and that's not always down to Yeaman, either.

Yup. And also the 'Try Assist' stat is one of the less useful ones as AFAIK it only counts the final pass/kick and not anything in the build-up.

I think an interesting stat was that Yeaman scored more tries than Briscoe in less games last year, which is perhaps indicative of him being a better finisher than provider (or more inclined to finish than provide).

Exactly.. I also think Turner gives Briscoe more service, it does not always mean a try but Tom has made some good ground on a few occasions, I also think Sharpe would benefit from Yeamo on his side as he is pretty much solid in defense.

I think Yeaman is definitely a better finisher than a provider. In fact he's a very good finisher from short range - runs good lines and is difficult to stop. It's one of the reasons I don't think he's a good pairing with Briscoe as he's also a top-notch finisher and only one of them can be on the end of a move. We might get more 'value' from splitting them up.

I agree. I disagree with those who say that Yeaman is 'greedy' (not saying this is you, btw), I actually think it's more to do with not always having the nouse to know when the pass is the better option.

Been saying this for ages now and woud love to see Gentle give it a try, but Yeamo might moan about been moved and not see himself as a right sided centre?

Yup. I've never thought of Yeaman as a greedy player - for me it's just a lack of awareness coupled with confidence in his ability to finish.

IIRC, his first game was at left centre because it was Gleeson who tore him a new one, and he then had a spell covering Kohe-Love. I think his first real run that eventually established him as a first choice in the team, though, was on the right as understudy for Barnett when he suffered his fatigue illness. He then moved over to replace Eagar on the left when he broke his arm (can't remember who came in at right centre, either Whiting or Alex Wilkinson?), and upon Eagar's return to fitness he came back on the right as 'Yeaman has earnt the right to play on his preferred side'. This will have been about the 2003 and 2004 seasons.

I have a strange mind that remembers stuff of little use and forgets anything important. It's actually bugging me that I can't recall why Kohe-Love was out, think he broke an arm as well. It's also a guess that his first game was on the left based on Gleeson being a right centre.

I'd be happy with either, tbh. Although Sharp was actually a left winger before coming here, so it could suit him too.
