| Quote ="Karlos13"A discount is usually offered as some sort of one off event to attract fans. If you are charging the same £19 price all season then it is hardly a discounted stand as it is the regular matchday price. Fair play for reducing your prices for home fans, but I will hazard a guess that Hull will be the only ground where away fans will pay upto £6 more than home fans for a stand that offers the same view/facilities etc.'"
I wasn't aware that there were rules governing how long a discount could apply for. Maybe you could post a link to these rules?
It's a season-long discount offered as 'compensation' for putting up with rubbish for the last several seasons. It's a PR exercise designed to drive up home crowds. It's a perfectly legitimate use of discounting. And TBH why should FC be worried about what other clubs do at their grounds? Each club has a different set of circumstances and will rightly adopt a pricing structure that suits them and nobody else.

What would be the point? People who can't understand the concept of a discount aren't really worth arguing with.

So you agree with the club and their price structure of £23 advanced £25 on the day for away fans?

I'll wait until the end of the season and see what the away crowds are like before deciding if it's been a good move or not. That's the only measure that counts.

As a fan what scenario would you prefer
Scenario 1
Hull charging a higher price and getting less fans
Scenario 2
Hull =#0000FFfilling away end at reduced cost but actaully making less profit than scenario 1
------------------------------------
In summary one makes the most money bottom and two creates better atmosphere.
As a fan answer this not as a business man.
as a side note, you'd normally make the money up in beer and food sales.

Other than Rovers there isn't a single side that has =#0000FFfilled the away end. It has seldom even come close to 3/4.

But it's pointless. You might as well ask if people would rather have £100 or a pair of rocket boots.
I will admit that I think the KC is a little overpriced, but I also think you maybe need to consider how much the lack of away fans is a contributing factor in the first place. Perhaps if most clubs brought more than the player's wives and parents as an excuse for an away following the prices wouldn't have risen so high. I'm not saying that would definitely be the case, but when the North Stand is consistently outnumbered by the stewards and catering staff then you've made yourselves such a minority that it's just further reason for the club not to put you too high in the list of priorities. They'll sort the home crowds out first and worry about you once that's fixed.

| I think there should be some sort of initiative for away fans, not aiming this at Hull but all teams, come up with an idea that brings in the numbers oh and my scenarios are also not aimed at Hull.
What clubs need to realise is the atmosphere is one of the big selling points, and if you're not producing it, it ruins the experience.
Look at London, even if they won SL for the next 3 years running i still think they'd struggle with crowds, they have no real rivalry, away fans don't get overly passionate there and people leave feeling a little flat, i know, I've watched them often enough

| Just to point out, including petrol money/coach fares Hull and Rovers fans spend more as away fans than the other clubs in the north of England as we have further to travel.
Warrington have a number of near neighbours. Widnes, St Helens and Wigan all within 13 miles or so I believe which is like Hull playing away games in Beverley, Brough and South Cave.

Two to three thousand away fans?
If we offered the seats for free and paid the travel we wouldn't get 2-3k from the majority of SL clubs. In those circumstances I'd take the option that made us some cash, cheers.

London's problem, as with the majority of clubs, is the number of [ihome[/i fans that turn up regularly. This needs fixing long before worrying about the away fans. AP realises that fact, and hence the incentives will be aimed at home fans until the numbers rise to an acceptable level.
We're used to small away followings and Hull fans will turn up in numbers if the product on the pitch is good and home pricing is right [iregardless[/i of how full the North Stand happens to be.

Not sure of your comment, as we have been refused entry when we tried to sit down side, and told it was due to council safety cerificate restrictions when I complained.

| According to the Wakey site, North stand prices increase to £25 in advance, £27 on the day from 27th February.
Has anybody else heard of this price rise, because I can't find it mentioned anywhere.

| I hope they have got this wrong, charging £23/£25 for away fans when we pay £19 for the opposite is bad enough but charging £25/£27 is shocking if true.
If it was the other way around ours fans would be going nuts.

| EDIT:
Having read the Wakefield thread. It's clear that the prices aren't changing and that the 27/02/12 is the deadline for them to get tickets for £23.
