Interesting. If Agar is retained beyond season end he'll get at least until May when he'll be into his 5th season as coach. Think Pearson will act way before that, just a question of when.

As a neutral (Wigan) fan today. I don't see how you can blame Agar for the stupid high tackles and Tickle kicking out on the full. I'm sure he didn't tell the players to do that. In the first half you had three great chances but put the ball down, that's not Agars fault.

wigan play and execute fantastic attacking rugby with great shape and structure but i suppose thats not maguires fault is it?

You'll see how much can be "the coach's fault" when Maguire leaves.

Agar has to go in the next few weeks or the season ticket sales for next season will be dire.

Pearson was very quick to pull the plug on his (expensive) gambles on Jan Molby and Phil Parkinson so I have faith he will act swiftly to remove Agar.

To the Wigan fan above, your team is everything I want mine to be but you ought to be praying they don't give Wane the job or you'll realise what FC fans have been through for the last few years... He's a decent tubthumper and does a stirling job of sporting the garish e your merchandising department churns out, but put him in charge and you'll soon wake up to the intellecual vacuum that is English RL coaching.

Have you heard something to suggest this or just expressing the fans' collective aspirations?

I don't know anything anyone else doesn't know, but Pearson's record for recognising e when he sees it is second to none, what he's replaced it with in the past is a different matter admittedly, but then the kind of finance that makes you a pauper in football can make you a prince in RL. Barring a miracle run from the bottom of the playoffs to the GF, I'll get a Clint Newton tattoo on my chest if that halfwit is still in charge next season. The good times are coming!

AP knew what he was saying when he said head coach was the Important man. He now has enough ammunition to fire him but my fear is Agarr has a generous compo if fired.
Rest of season won't be easy and Agarr could do honorable thing and do a mutual release from contract so he isn't fired nor resigned.

He should go as the gates for the last few gates will be very low, if the faithful are given a wiff of optimism they may come. Sacking Agar now will give out a strong clear message to both players and fans....his resignation will just be the sack dressed up as such..If Agar was going to walk like he promised if he failed he would have walked long ago.

Let's try and think logically. If you had just bought potentially one of the top clubs in SL, which let's face it its not the Premiership so I doesn't take too much to achieve in comparison, what would you do?

Firstly run the gauntlet of the history of the club especially recent history. Cup finals and although a little distant now we have had silverware. What is the record in the league. Probably best summed up as average. I would say far worse.

Your first game is a cup 1/4 final at home against a team that is average at best at the moment. You would be hoping for two things. 1) a win to take us to the next round and 2) a big crowd. We got neither.
This basically leaves us with nothing left to play for this season. Yes we can dress it up and state we could make the play offs blah blah blah but we won't realistically do anything there. We have some bloody tough games left and frankly I don't see many points coming our way.
So what to do. Crowds will tail off. Holiday season is with us. Its a period when fans miss the odd game as a result. Kids off school so days out are on the agenda and saving £50 a family by not going to a game is a distinct possibility when we have nothing to play for.
So how do we address that if you are the owner.
Well if you know of apathy towards certain elements in your organisation and your customers refuse to return because of that element then you get rid. You then hope it appeases your customers and the problem hopefully diminishes.

If we wait until October to do it you leave your customers annoyed and apathetic. You create unease in the employment ranks and from a positive start you start battling and having to fight fires.
The only way to maintain crowds and get season pass sales back to the 9000 mark will be for decisive action and soon. AP's hands are somewhat tied in terms of signings for next season so I don't see exciting marquee signings coming in. So a exciting new coaching set up has to be the answer.
In the interim I would get Long off his arris and taking over along with Fitz. Look to get experience in from Oz / NZ to be here from Nov 1st and build towards a new era starting with a bang in February. We will not be champs next year or possibly in 2013 but we have to start to look for massive improvement week in week out Do that and his investment will pay dividends. Sit back and be indecisive and AP might struggle even this early to ever get his dividends.

Good post above and I agree with it, cannot see us reaching the top 8 and surely even to Agar (with his team) he will see that as a failure. Oh forgot we have an excuse because Long is injured.

Great post agree 100%, we need to change things asap, we are simply just not good enough, the coaching set up needs completly changing and a clear out of players is required, aside from Whiting, Briscoe, Yeaman, Westerman, houghton yesterday the rest just not good enough, how many penalties did Tickle give away in that 2nd half?. Brain Noble was at the game yesterday, lets hope Adam ran into him.

Just out of curiosity does anybody know where Agar disappeared to with 5mins left as he left his seat and I thought he was making his way at last to give some instruction pitch side but never saw him reappear anywhere?
