Couldnt disagree more if he was a workhorse he would be a good signing. Waterhouse is as soft as they come, the guy is a luxury player who when the going gets tough gets hidden.

Wouldn't have thought he'll be going anywhere fast, scoring tries for fun in he NRL. I think he might also be tied to the Doggies for another year or two.

Put it this way i'd rather have Waterhouse than Seymour, i'm a Nulla fan and when he was there, Nulla had a brilliant defence but not noted for their attack, solid half back won't set the world alight. Anyway we have a coach that can get a performance out of people.

Seymour was the correct kind of signing, theres no way you could put Ellis straight in as first choice.
The likes of Barba and Boyd etc won't be seen over here for at least 5 years especially with the NRL's new cap budgets.

It's a an irrelevant comparison as it depends on what the team needs. Waterhouse has been avergae for a while now, not because he has signed for you but that has always been my opinion of him. He had a spell a number of years ago where he played at a high level but not seen him anywhere near that since.

Anyway we need a halfback so regardless of how good/bad Waterhouse is he is not what we need.

I'd say a solid NRL half back should go pretty well in Super League. Especially as he's still only 26.

Agreed, especially when some say Dobson is one of the best Scrum Halves in our League yet he could not break into the first team in NRL. I expect him to go well and expect his most valuable asset to us will be his kicking game.

waterhouse played for Oz in a period where he was ay his best and deserved it but most definately a player looking to the Brits as a final pay packet IMO... NOT what we need...and not all that anymore anyway.

As for the Chris Mackenna comment earlier in the thread, i would have loved to have him when in his prime he was outstanding so why he should have been bagged is beyond me

overheard a conversation this morning which made me think though for the sake of British RL, aparently both peacock and Moz are going to retire from the rep scene after this next tourny but that does beg where is the next big hitters coming from because for the life of me i dont see anyone with a Brit passport stepping straight into the gap they leave...

Chris McKenna was a solid player but no way would you have ever expected him to get selected for Australia.

I used him to highlight how weak Australia were at around the time Waterhouse won his test caps, I mean on that tour Darren Smith played for the Kangaroos even though he had just retired.

McKenna was a good centre but not in the same class as those who went before and since in the green and gold. Don't think HF was bagging him as such just pointing out that Australia had a weaker side back then.

waterhouse isnt the same player he was back 5 or so years ago but hes still playing decent in the nrl and i would love him at hull will go really well over here, look at ogre he last played rep footy years ago and wasnt the same player he was when younger but hes been amazing so far for us. we really do need 2 forwards now ideally a prop and backrower

Waterhouse will suit Wire to a tee, hit the line look for the supporting man and get the offload out in fact he'll probably do a better job than Louis Anderson rumoured to Catalans.

Louis is a hard hitting rower who again will suit Catalans very physical style.

I'll concede of the earlier comment on Seymour too, again a player that possibly at another club wouldn't suit them but a club like Hull crying out for a half back he'll probably do well, horses for courses and that.
