The VAT rise shouldn't affect season passes as they will be sold before January, I agree, the match day price really can't go up much further, not unless we spend some money in a fairly evident way.
The club making a profit is positive, but they cannot be seen to be making excessive profits with no success on the field.

Been saying it for years, we are not a £23 a game club
Maybe they should do a 3 year pass, or do an offer like the Bulls (15,000 fans though)

Maybe we aren't a £23 or £24 club but as people pay it the club will keep charging it.

I agree, woulden't be surprised to see up to 1,000 less to be honest.
very little hype due to deflation of the derby defeat and lack of big name signings, and some drab rugby in the last 3 years.
I'll be honest and say the only reason I will renew is so that I don't lose my good East stand seats, if I was unreserved or sitting in the less populated West Stand I'd be picking and choosing games next season.
the club should also look at reducing its prices for the less high-profile games. Are they allowed to categories games like football clubs do? I.e have half the home games as a 'A games' at full price and the other half 'B games' at a reduced rate. Games against Quins, Salford, Crusaders, Catalan etc with no away fans and atmosphere simply aren't worth £23...they could get away with it when we were 'CC winners, grand finalists' but not now.

| Where's the tipping point in the price of a pass though? Would £10/15 either way make that much difference? If match day prices are reduced for lesser games that will devalue the season pass and make it more likley that people will not buy one and pick and choose their games.

I think in general our season pass prices and pay on the door prices need to be reduced. Obviously it's driven primarily by our overheads but i think the club should definately look at giving something back this year rather than continually exploiting fans.
£20 is the max i'd look to charge on the gate rather than £23 or £24.
If that means i get a season pass for £160 instead of £180 for example that works. (not that i'm getting a pass)

Disagree. We've paid IIRC £520 for 2 adults and 2 children passes which entitled us to 28 adult attendances and 54 kids entrances (home and away). Overall that's £6 per game per person. Just looking at the adults tickets on their own, I personally don't think that £15.71 a game is too bad for a reserved seat in a great stadium, plus the normal passholder benefits of shirt discount, BBQ, first dibs on play-off tickets etc.

| For comparison here's Wigan's 2011 price list
they have raised the prices but still cheaper than us, despite finishing first in the regular season, and the KC and DW being of comparable standards.
we are getting ripped off.

We don't have a wealthy backer. They do. They're also not making a profit. Plus the KC is a better stadium, and who knows how the running costs compare. So I'm not sure that 'ripped off' is justified.
That said, prices can't afford to go up IMO. Times are hard. A small reduction would be a nice gesture but I ain't gonna hold my breath.

| In one sense with the cap as it is making a profit is pointless. It's just not making a loss that is key.......
Unless that profit is going to be spent on getting a top Australian coach so that we can attract good quality young talent to the club because they are convinced that we mean business. But that's not going to happen which is a shame because IF we had the set up on the field that produced good attacking flowing rugby then the cost of a pass and tickets just wouldn't be a major topic of conversation , we'd just be desperate for the next season to start.

We weren't really knocking the prices of season passes. The point about passes was that if we drop the pay on the gate we may need to drop season passes too. As you say £16 is pretty good for a pass. £23 or £24 is not for pay on the gate.

I don't think that the pass prices are the issue, it's the £24 match day cost which is too high. At your quoted £15.71 for the pass, it's 50% higher. £20 on the gate wouldn't stop me from buying a pass but would certainly encourage more to turn up on the day

Agree pass prices are good but the pay on the day price needs to be reduced enough to appeal to the floating fans. The prices you quote seem pretty fair!

Agreed. When I got the tickets for the derby, wasn't paying attention to the price, but was shocked when I got them. £24 for a game against Salford for example is very poor value, completely agree. I do think there is general resistance to paying on the day as evidenced by the gate at Wigan on Friday night for example where there was actually a family ticket offer on, but still a gate of approx 8500 home fans at the comp's best supported team in the most important game of the season.

Nope. The cap only covers players salaries - there's a whole bunch of worthwhile stuff you can spend cash on if you have any 'spare'.

You may have noticed from the rest of the post that I was being facetious , a coach being "worthwhile stuff" in my view.

How does a big money backer impact on ticket prices?
It means nowt when it comes to salary cap and your income is up at our level, same as Wigan £4.5 million
Wigan are miles cheaper than us, their income is comparable, their gates are bigger.
See the stuff on their board, they didnt see a penny from the JJB "shirt sponsorship"

A big money backer can plough cash into the club to fund projects that would otherwise come out of general turnover. They may even directly subsidise ticket prices. It's another income stream, and often a substantial one.
You'd have to take a detailed look at the accounts of both clubs and see where the income was being generated and where the cash was being spent. Unless we're spending large sums on items that don't benefit the club I can't see where the 'rip-off' accusation comes from.
Value for money is another issue, mind...
