Although our Cup game performance needs to be huge, and comes on the back of the derby, Wire, Leeds in close succession. CC is our only chance of silverware IMO and we should put plenty of eggs in this basket. Up to the coach to select, rotate and gameplan appropriately to give us our best shot at it.

No, especially with young developing players, with inexperience it should be expected they will have the odd mare, and to be honest a few of the senior players like Briscoe had mare's however they were not singled out and publicly dropped. As good as Morgan is he is still a gobs*te when he is stood in front of a camera.

Not really, Wheeldon was rested against Saints, Netherton last night so it's Liams turn this week. Looks like he will make it a consistant rotation of these 3

No issues with resting/dropping players...however to use a young players on National tv as one of the excuses then name the player to be rested is harsh...he should have spoken to the young lad first IMO.

Foe what its worth I am led to believe that as was noted on here a while ago, he knows he has a performance revue with the directors around Easter , but thus far its a bit confusing with wins against Sts, Hudds and Cas then a loss to Crusaders but no shame in a loss at Wigan to be fair, however the manner of the defeat was hard to take....
Agar has said "the lads know where they went wrong" I would like to know what they discussed!!

Would be a hell of a lot more if you didn't pick up very lucky wins against cas and saints

Who cares what they did at bradford? Last night he came up with a gameplan, his players executed it to perfection and his team destroyed ours. They could easily have had 60 points last night.

And we could have easily threw the towel in, but didn't.

Although the defeat was dissapointing, the three late tries give us something to build on for next week and show that we are not just going to curl up and die like we have done on numerous occasions over the past 2 years.

If they could easily have had 60 points but didn't, doesn't that constitute a failure of the plan?

Thought I would stick my twopennyworth in to the debate.

Although last nights performance was a little disappointing (even though the loss was probably expected), it would be harsh in the extreme to sack Agar when we have 4 wins from 6 so far. What's more, removing him would solve little as the chances of being able to appoint a top class coach in March are minimal. These days. coaches seem loathe to switch clubs mid season, preferring to see out their contract with the coaching merry go-round taking place during the close season. This situation seems to be especially true down under with coaching movements often known well before the end of the current season. The other option would be to install Moore as head coach, but seeing as promoting the assistant of a failed sacked head coach is what got us into this situation in the first place, I don't think its the right option. Also Moore is unproven as a head coach so again we would be back to square one.

So Agar should stay for the time being, given the current dictates. Having said all that, I do not believe his contract should be extended beyond the current campaign.
Everything about our club indicates that we should be challenging Leeds for the position of top dogs in SL. Our ground, attendance levels, income streams, merchandising sales etc all point towards one of the biggest clubs in the British game, which is why we was awarded a grade A franchise in 2008. But these advantages are clearly not being transferred into an eqvilalent level of success on the playing field. One of the major contributory factors holding us back from making a genuine sustained challenge for honours is the board's refusal to head hunt a World class head coach. With all the will in the World, Richard Agar is not the man to take us up to the next level and in my opinion the board should start making discreet enquiries now concerning potential candidates for the position for the next 3-5 years.

This isn't a knee-jerk reaction to last night's result, I have been of the opinion that Richard Agar is not the man for the job since the day at Quins when Peter Sharp was fired. We have the basis of a playing squad capable of great things (there isn't too much tinkering required) but I'm afraid we will continue to languish in mid table rather than top 3 (which is where we should be) until this issue is faced up to.

So in summary : Short term, Agar should stay as there is no obvious immediate replacement, but long term he simply isn't up to the job in hand. He's a grade B coach in charge of a grade A club.
