| I think some people on here are going abit OTT regarding the fans reaction to celtic's try. The crowd were not 'cheering' the try, they were applauding it, as a previous poster mentioned. I don't think anyone wanted celtic to win the game (bar a few) therefore why would they cheer one of their try's which subsequently put them in the lead? I was one of the many that appluaded their try, I didnt want them to win, but I was just reluctant to see some decent rugby being played. I was happy to see at least 1 team turn up and play with abit of enthusiasm, they were willing to throw the ball about and try things, our team clearly werent. Good on em I say.

| Quote ="Raggytash"I think this problem has been exacerbated by Agar and the board. For the last 3 seasons they've been telling us what a great squad we have, and how we'll be in a position to win things. They have built up false expectations by over hyping average signings and pretending our existing players are competitive. Most fans have swallowed all this excrement for a long time but as they say, you can't fool all of the people all of the time.
In regards to booing our own team, I didn't myself because I had absolutely no expectations going into the game. I see ourselves as the 3rd worst team in the league and I think we play like the 3rd worst side. To expect anymore of this squad and coaching set up would be daft. I don't have a problem with others booing the team and think Agar can only condemn them when he starts paying an admission fee himself.
On the whole, I don't think there was a real lack of effort from the players, just a lack of ideas. I was very impressed with Sam Moa and Calderwood, and I liked Moa's interaction with the crowd at the end. However, even with the new signings next year, we won't have a great deal of improvement in us under this current regime.'"
Agree on this point, also throw in there Whiting and Tansey and all is not lost we do have some showing heart.

Exactly right. As I mentioned in an earlier post, Celtic have had little success win wise this season, but continue to try and play attractive rugby. My applause was for that reason. I honestly think it was a spontaneous gesture by the fans, and I would guess we are better thought of right now by them (Celtic), than we are by our own coach!

| It's ok Agar trying to apportion some of blame on us fans, but it seemed that everytime we sent the ball wide we scored, so is it Agar's tactic's of playing the game down the middle that it strangling our natural game and not using the pace we have on the outside's.
If it is then only Agar himself is to blame.

| Quote ="Jake the Peg"Absolutely right. the coach should keep his opinions on the fans to himself. He's paid to coach the team not to try and deflect blame from himself by blaming anyone who he can think of. Last week the players, this week the fans. Who will it be next week?'"
Hypocrit
Apart from twisting what was said (booing doesn't help out when the team are full of nerves does not equate to blaming them for a poor performances).
If the coach is there solely to coach the team perhaps there should be no communication between club officials and the fans at all?
I suppose its been ok for players and coaches past and present to heap praise on the fans for our years of loyal support??? Or should they keep those opinions to themselves as well?
There is no wonder Hull FC has struggles to attract a top class coach when fans like you are evident. Can you imagine the conversation between Wayne Bennett and any former Hull player
"I have been offered the Hull job, any advice"
"Yes, you will have to win every game because the fans will tear you to bits unless you deliver all trophies on offer, and by the way thats in your normal day to day life, not just on match day"

Interesting that I'm a hypocrite for daring to criticise performances and the coach's reaction to fans yet you come on here almost daily and have a go at paul king. What's the definition of a hypocrite again?
I'm not twisting anything. The fact is that the performances from the players have been unacceptable for months. The fans have continued to turn up in droves, following them around the country because they love the club. IMO, the crowd reaction last night was very tame given the dross served up.
agar is paid to do a job of coaching the team, not passing comment on the fact he isn't happy that the fans are voicing their opinions of him and the players.
And perhaps you can give me some evidence of when a top class coach has turned us down because the fans have been critical of under par performances under previous coaches? Or maybe you can give your opinion on why tony smith took the wire job after seeing the way the fans reacted to cullen on SKY?
Don't be so naive. Coaches know that they will be critcised by fans if things aren't going right. It's part and parcel of the job. If he can't stand the heat he should stay out of the kitchen

what a load of balls...last year the majority of the team played at Wembley in front of 80,000, live on terrestrial tv to a few million, and they didn't do a bad job of it.
why the hell would they be 'nervous' in front of the lowest crowd of the year, at home, in a game against the bottom side?
its a lazy excuse for how unproffesional and badly coached the side are

I meant in the league, but the point still stands, if they are 'nervous' playing in the lowest intensity game of the season, with no away fans, then god help them when they go to Craven Park on saturday, maybe they could take their mums to hold their hands

I wonder what they think of some of thier fellow players also!?!?
My memory may have failed me but the fans only clapped Celtic once, after the try they scored. IF any cheering happened it was at the same point. There where no other occassions when we clapped or cheered Celtic. The only other clapping (other than for Hull) was rounds of slow clapping which came from shear bordom / frustration.
Agar is creating a smoke screen with his comments to deflect all attention away from what was a terrible Hull performance.

| I felt embarrased last night when hundreds of people in the east stand stood up clapping and shouting things like "Come on Celtic" after they scored. I honestly think it's pathetic. I don't personally do it but boo the performance if you must, not start supporting the opposition. You wouldn't do it if it was Rovers so why the Crusaders just because they're not from East Hull?
As for Agar's comments, he was probably asked what he thought to our fans behaviour and couldn't really say alot else. Everything he said was true. I think he's a terrible coach and would love to see him out of the door but the amount of people getting on their high horses over this is silly.

People are going to use negative he says against him...he maybe shouldn't have commented. I sit in the south stand and i didn't here anyone say "come on Celtic" - that is taking it a bit to far!!

I wouldn't go as far as disgraceful but surely you're fans should be getting behind your team rather than the opposition. I would prefer to stay behind them and hope the powers that be make the right decisions with regard to coaching peronnel before I'd ever consider supporting the other team in any way.

Think your getting confused. At no point was anyone cheering Celtic to win. The cheering was toungue in cheek and aimed at having a pop at the players for thier lack of effort.
To some it was seen as a mini protest against the current regime and style of play.

Spot on.
I honestly didn't care if Celtic won last night or not. Not so long ago we were putting 80 on better teams than Celtic.
Our fall in ability is a disgrace.
The only bigger disgrace are some of the players who cannot be bothered.
The fans try and support the team and have done for the last 2 seasons. We are being treated with contempt by the people who owe us their livelehoods. The players, coach and board deserve everything they get. Agars comments are pathetic. You want the fans to cheers the players? You mean like we have done all season for ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. You want to concentrate on slagging of and punishing some of the people that deserve it. And it's most certainly not any of the fans, however they may act or feel. You can start by grabbing a mirror and seeing a major root cause of our current predicament.
