The amount of times I hear people bang on about him being enthusiastic etc. It's great to see as a fan. But it doesn't win many games. I've never ever seen him save a try. His high ball is a little ropey and loads of times he wasn't there for back up. Only thing he has over Shaul is his link play and that can be either great or loose. When we have Shaul already, a fair wage and an overseas spot can't be justified imo. Like the kid and wish him well but not required for us!

Perhaps Shaul needed the naughty step for a period after all and I'm not saying that was a bad thing? Perhaps it was good man management and coaching and a lesson to Jamie?
Rated Rankin personally. Thought he linked well and a decent try/game ratio.
Not the greatest defensively but neither is Shaul to be honest. Probably a financial decision with what we've got coming in.
Will be interested to see how things pan out for him.

Got the distinct feeling when i had a brief chat/saw Rankin out in town (Mission and then Rumours) with Tim Smith and Jacob Miller a couple of weeks ago, that he'd end up at Wakefield. Wakey seems the most likely fit and will no doubt go well under Brian Smith

He's done a very good job for us and his rapport with the fans has been fantastic, however, as there's not much between him and Shaul you have to favour local talent. All the best Jordan I'm sure you'll do a great job for Wakie.

I think JR has done a good job, and got better as this season went on. No hard feelings from me, seems like a good lad too.

Good luck to him at Wakey if he goes, he will add to their squad no doubt.

Lets face facts, if he went back home, it would not be to a top team, more a second-string, again. Miller was definitely average. Rankin is better, but not by much.

Apparently Brian Smith unhappy with Radio Humberside. Presumably for announcing it before they wanted to? Anyone hear the comments?

I agree, I'm pleased for him.

Not a world beater by any stretch, but always gave his best and a nice human being to boot.

Good luck to him. Whatever his shortcomings no-one could ever fault his commitment. He has always given 100% and shown real pride in wearing the shirt.

He always wanted to go back to the NRL and I'm glad he is and hasn't signed for another SL team.

Rankin will back up Tedesco, Moses and Brooks but they've also signed a couple of other players who can.

West Tigers have some of the best youngsters in the game. They're restructuring their cap (Farah) and getting rid of some dead wood (Galloway, Halatau, Moltzen).
