Played very well yesterday but needs to be consistent week in week out like a lot of other players do. If that happens the team's performances become consistent too. Well done to him for yesterday.

Whatever happens at the end of the season, he's been a great servant to Hull FC. A true professional who has never given less than 100% everytime he's played for us.

If it is then he would surely be willing to accept an even lower contract which might give both him more incentive to keep performing for a new deal and FC to keep him for the salary cap, especially with the 50K rule.

The £50k rule is per club regardless of how many players at the club qualify and starts at the beginning of a player's 11th season, IIRC. In any case, this would be applicable anyway with Yeaman and possibly Horne.

What I've always liked from Dowes is the pressure he gives to the opposition's kicker on the last tackle. That thinking ahead he does as never been in question. Like the way he read Cocked's run yesterday forcing his to knock on the ball.

Last of the "awesome foursome" as well...Carvell gone on to win things at Wire and King and Thackeray pi$$ed their careers away......he comes in and does all the unnoticed graft...we cannot have 4 impact props and Dowes should start when he is in the team.

Chances are he won't get one here. Shame really, as he was my favourite player when I started going to FC.

He was excellent yesterday put in a real 100% performance. I do have one complaint though, he was wearing red and white boots, on derby day, what was he thinking!
