I can see us putting a mid season run together as we usually do to finish in 7th or 8th place and then exiting the playoffs at the first hurdle. Coupled with a decent cup run

would the board see this as an acceptable seasons acheivements or as another season of unfulfilled promise?

Be lucky to make the 8 unless we have a change of coach. Will stick with my pre season prediction of 7-9 and a couple of rounds in the cup. No way we will win anything as we have consistently shown that we cannot win the must win games under the current coaching setup.

8th or 9th i reckon..would like to see a decent run at the challenge cup but its the luck of the draw i suppose..id take an easy route to the final every day of the week.

It looks very much like Wigan, Saints, Hudds, Leeds and Wire will make up the top 5. That leaves the likes of Rovers, Bradford, Hull, Salford, Castleford and Quins battling it out for the remaining 3 play off places.

As things stand, there doesn't seem to be any way that we'll win the more games than all of the other clubs mentioned. Therefore a 6th place finish seems quite unlikely. I think we're most likely to finish 8th or 9th.

How does a sports club measure its success? Balance sheet? Trebles all round in the board room? Or trophies?

On the basis of the above comment I can only assume that you're happy with 2 trophies in 20 years.

6th. Still think we have the squad to finish 3rd though.

We have the squad for a top 4 finish imo....however unless we change the coach very soon we will find ourselves in an end of season fight for 7/8th

To finish in the top 6, I think we have to win the next 3 games - after that we have the derby, wire and saints of which 2 points would be a fair yield on current form.

pretty much no doubts about this - the rest is pretty much wide open

so the best we can aim for is 6th - the last 2 years a minimum of 29 points has been needed to achieve this (before that there were only 12 teams so not comparable directly). so we need another 25 points or 12 wins and a draw from 20 games, which is round about top 4 form for the rest of the season, with wire and saints to play twice. its a tall order.

after all that i would hope we can finish in the top 8 but with lots of similar teams around its going to be a fight

When people say 6th or 7th do they mean in terms of regular season finishing position or play off finishing position?

what are you basing that on Paul, we failed to compete with Wakefield and only started playing against Quins with 15 minutes to go, and even then we were far from great from what I read/am told.

Maybe on the fact that we cannot continue to play this poorly for the rest of the season?? When you take the top 5 as given, and then there is usually a team that surprises everyone as well I think 7th downwards is more likely.
