Gentle commented about it in last week after the match...Horneys injury record really has to be a concern now, big worry if he is penciled in to cover a specific role next season eg F/back

This is my worry he will not play half of next season so we will be in the same boat .

Tend to agree with this. Horne's injury record feels like it's quite poor, although I've not checked the stats, and has to be a worry for next year if he's taking up cap space and is earmarked as a first choice either 6 or 1.

I've just looked it up. According to the stats on the Hull website, out of the 17 competitive matches played so far (16 SL, 1 CC) he has:

started 10
interchange for 1
completely missed 6



edit: Whilst I was there I looked up O'Meley's stats. He's been involved in 6 games (start or bench) and has completely missed 11.

My concern is not predominately based on this year, his average over the last 3 years is the concern.

Seem to think he missed quite a few last season too, at least we never seemed to have both him and Long available. Hope for improved luck, but if he's on decent money it does compromise us a bit.

This year's isn't exactly great. He's missed approx. 1/3 of our games. Not great for someone in a prominant position within the squad and presumably a decent wage (and the £50k subtraction argument is no longer relevant as Yeaman will now qualify).

At the upper end of the scale in our club without a doubt.

Just checked the match reports for the 2011 season. According to them, Horne played in 28 of 31 competitive matches for us last year.

Same, however to give him 3 yrs like they did was sheer madness considering the amount of time he had missed due to his kneck injury and he had not even found form when he got the deal

Fair enough, maybe misjudging him harshly.

Horne played in 29 out of 31 games last season, 12 out of 29 in 2010 and 25 from 28 in 2009.

Before that was his disasterous season in 208 when he only played 4 times. He only missed one game between 2006 and 2007.

I was harsh based on those stats.

How are Heremaia and Westerman doing this season for injuries ? They must be on a fair bit of cap ?

Heremaia has missed all 17 competitive matches (obviously)

Westerman missed 11 competitive matches, played in 6.

O'Meley missed 11 competitive matches, played in 6.

Yeaman missed 9 competitive matches, played in 8.



That will be a substantial amount of our salary cap.

To be fair, Westerman popped his shoulder scoring a try and needed an op, so it's pretty understandable he's been out for a while! Was that the first injury he's had since he's been with us?

I agree with you. I was being a bit facetious. It's a brutal contact sport requiring a high degree of athleticism so players will get injured.
